Palacios Arenal

I personally loved this Hostel. The owners were great and friendly, and they tell you all the great spots in La Fortuna to do for free. Because of the cool and friendly vibes, I very easily made friends here. That being said, a friend of mine had bedbugs in her bed, which if course can happen, but they only paid half of her laundry and only sprayed some stuff on the matress, after which they let someone new sleep on the bed. That is not a proper protocol. (good tip: always check for bedbugs)

The staff helped organize hikes & outdoor events and there was a group WhatsApp which was helpful. It had a good backpacker vibe and we made good friends there. Big kitchen area with lots of burners and room for food storage although there were ants taking over one of the trash bins towards the end of our stay. Great co working space but a friend had bed bugs and they made her stay in the room in a different bed and only paid for half her laundry. Don’t think the bed bug issue was resolved.
