Studio Apartments Coati - Sloth B&B Monteverde

The room is nice. The showers are hot. The location isn't bad. My problem with this place is mainly with the staff. I don't know if they are just socially awkward or rude, but I found them difficult and frustrating to deal with. It's also not a traditional hostel. There are no real common areas and no social vibe. This is the weirdest and possibly worst hostel we have visited in our 1,5 year trip. The staff tries tobe friendly but they unfortunately have some social disorder. There are signs on everything that you get fines for bringing friends over ($50),vaping in the garden ($200), leaving the kitchen behind ($10). They lie about numerous things like the price/exchange rates, taxes, the tours that have to be booked with them, the breakfast times.. and the shower gave me a first degree burn.

The room, especially the bed was not clean so I used my own sleeping bag the first time after 10 weeks of travelling. The room was noisy the whole night because of traffic noises. There is not even a ladder to climb to the upper bed.

Arrived at the hostel to he told we didn’t have the “free” breakfast included that is advertised on the hostel description and on the sign above the hostel entrance. Apparently this only applies if you book the “refundable room option” which costs 4 dollars extra per night (breakfast isn’t exactly free then is it?) Offered to pay the difference and staff told me i had to cancel my non refundable reservation and rebook which obviously made zero sense. Attitude and customer servi...

Mauricio and that lady are so inpolite. They dont care about customers. They just want to sell activities I booked 3 activities in 2 days. I knew there was rain. I asked mauricio before booking the last activity if they could wash my clothes after. I was leaving the next morning. They said yes… when i came back ( right after ) they said they couldnt and if i wasnt happy i could leave. :) I also requested they dont put eggs in my plate for the breakfast. I am intolerant: They put eggs anyway...

Owner unkind and rude, she doesn’t even look into your eyes and obviously never smiling. Rooms are super tiny and you don’t even space to move and there are only 2 chargers for the electronic staffs for 4 people! Kitchen is ridiculously tiny with just 2 cooking gas for all those guests and we had to struggle every day with the other people to cook before of the closing time (9pm). No common space beyond the rooms. WiFi works really bad. Only one good: Mau is great, always kind and swee...

Auberge vide, aucune ambiance. Prestations basiques (eau chaude), mais aucun ménage en deux nuits. Le vrai problème, c’est le personnel : froid, uniquement là pour vous vendre des excursions avec de mauvais conseils et vous menacer de frais supplémentaires. À mon arrivée, on m’a demandé de payer en espèces et, faute de liquide, mon passeport a été confisqué jusqu’à mon retour de l’ATM, avant même qu’on ne me montre ma chambre. Fuyez.

Not a great place to stay. Most rooms facing the road so you will hear everything. They forget to open the kitchen some mornings which is annoying if you want to make breakfast or get something from the fridge at a reasonable hour. There was an empty soap dispenser in the bathroom but they said they don't offer soap so I had to buy a some from the market. There were other hiccups but overall it doesn't feel like they take pride in making this place feel welcoming

I found a cockroach in my locker, the room didn’t feel particularly clean either… another downside was that the kitchen is tiny and only has 2 burners for the whole hostel, it also closes at 9pm. The staff are helpful and breakfast is the highlight

Het is vrij duur maar dat is omdat je in een toeristische plaats zit. Nadeel was dat je nog $ 1,- voor een handdoek gebruik moest betalen. Reis al heel mijn leven maar nog nooit meegemaakt. Verder een goede service, zeer behulpzaam personeel en goed ontbijt.

Really enjoyed my stay there! She very nice the place is very good and clean and tbh I wish I could have stayed there longer! 1000% recommend

We loved our stay at coati-sloth b&b! Very well equipped apartment. Perfect for 5 people. Gorgeous location and very kind and accommodating host! Highly recommend!

We had an absolutely fantastic stay in the apartment. It was super clean, with a great balcony and a fully equipped kitchen and a super nice, warm shower. Yorle, the host, was so sweet. She treated us with fresh fruit on arrival and a taste of the delicious local dishes she cooked. She helped out with booking transport and tours. We had a truely amazing stay, the best we've had! Would absolutely recommend it.

Yorle is an heart warming host who makes you feel at home and gives you loads of recommendations. It’s clearly that there’s a lot of love in the appartment. Great facilities, amazing mountain views with balcony and super clean. Great place to relax. Would definitely stay again!!

Really nice apartments. It all looked brand new and the view is so nice. We booked our tours through Yorle and it was all arranged nicely!

We had an amazing stay at Studio apartment coati-sloth. The apartment was a 20 min walk away from the city which we found perfect and gave a beautiful view from the balcony with. It was a great kitchen and the whole apartment was very clean and nice! The host were amazing she was so so sweet and helped us book everything we needed, and we were even lucky to taste a delicious dessert she had made. I 100% recommend this place

We had a lovely stay at Coati and Sloth Apartments. The family supported us in any way possible with transportation, activities, etc. making sure we get good prices and booking in advance for us. We got upgraded to a bigger apartment and in the fridge we received a surprise of fruit, orange juice and some milk. They were more than accomodating and helpful. Best place I have stayed yet. The host was extremely helpful and answered all of our questions. She will book everything for you. The apartment was super clean and stocked with everything we needed. I cannot recommend this place enough!!

One of the best places to stay in Monteverde. The place and the service were spectacular! We stayed in an amazing apartment; everything was super clean and new, and it's in a great location. Yorle and Mauricio are very friendly and always willing to recommend places to visit or eat. They have free coffee and tea available all day. The location is excellent, and there's private parking. Definitely 100% recommended. I know I'll be back someday.

Der Aufenthalt war super! Zu Fuß kommt man ohne Probleme in den Ort und man kann direkt in der Unterkunft eine Menge Aktivitäten buchen.

We really enjoyed this accommodation. It's a 5-minute walk from Santa Elena (the town). There's free parking just a minute from the door. They offer free coffee and tea in your apartment. The room was very nice and spacious. The owner (Yorle) also helped us with our plan to visit Selvatura Park, including schedules and transportation. The tables and chairs outside for enjoying coffee or reading are great. The place is very peaceful. I highly recommend it.

The place is perfect. An unforgettable experience, excellent service. The apartment was spotless, with many amenities, very complete. And the balcony has an incredible view. The vibe is very tranquil and peaceful. Everything was great, highly recommended.

​My favorite part of my two-week Costa Rica trip was staying at Coati & Sloth Studio Apts. It was exactly what I was looking for—a true home away from home. The space was exceptionally clean, comfortable, quiet, and had a beautiful view. Yorle and her family were extremely kind and hospitable. If you want to experience the real Pura Vida, look no further. Highly recommend!
