No a/c, one fan for the room = a hot sweaty sleepless night. Breakfast was worst I’ve seen- couple small pancakes and an apple (considering the price, c’mon). Staff didn’t seem to want to be there. Facilities were clean, bed was good. Crazy how much hostels charge in Vancouver though. This one definitely wasn’t worth it for the money

I never found a parking spot and I wasn’t able to stay. I had to be up early in the morning.

the worst hostel I have ever been to. - men’s toilet only 2 showers working, paper towels missing to often to be forgiven. -No watch/ supervision of the corridors - the noise should be managed by staff. loud and obnoxious guests at 2am. Rooms - very underwhelming, so many little things to improve the exp: - usb port needs to led red if you want to use - no privacy curtains - white annoying light instead of yellow / claiming but also not disturbing other roommates - overall smell and...

This is quite honestly the worst hostel I have ever stayed in. I was trying to keep an open mind about it, but it was awful and actively unpleasant. I checked out a day early because it was so bad. The rooms are dusty and unbearably hot, despite it being not that hot outside. I slept maybe 4 hours each night. The showers on my floor had signs saying no hot water, and I was given no timeline of when they might be operational again. The atmosphere was nonexistent, and I felt very isolated.

I suffered discrimination from two employees at the reception and they denied my reservation. The manager contacted me to offer me compensation but he ended contact with me right after sending the email. I presented evidence and the hostel never took responsibility for the traumatic event I experienced. I am currently still looking for help...be very careful with this place

Really my only complaint here was the lack of air conditioning. I think if you went during any other season you'd have a fine experience, but I went in the summer and the rooms were so hot that I continuously woke up drenched in sweat and only got a handful of hours sleep over the three nights I was there. I feel bad leaving such a low score, but when you book a hostel to have a place to sleep at night and can't get any sleep, it's quite frustrating.

It was like a jail it had the most depressing vibe. Would rather sleep on a jetstar plane.

The location is amazing so if that’s all you care about go for it. I had several issues during my stay though. Me and my friend did not have towels on our bed upon arriving so we asked the front desk for towels and they said they had run out and basically shrugged their shoulders as if it was no big deal. Then we found out they only wash the comforters once a month rather than in between each guest stay (we quickly threw them off our beds when the housekeeper told us. And many more issues….

One of my favourite hostels in Vancouver! (I’ve tried 3 others haha). The bed/sheets were sooo comfy and we basically had the room to ourselves :)

Wouldn’t recommend for longer stay. The bathroom wasn’t working on our floor. You can feel every move the person on the bed above/under you does.

I had a great stay at HI Vancouver Downtown Hostel. The location is excellent, close to major attractions and transit. Rooms and bathrooms were clean, and the overall environment felt safe and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the social vibe made it easy to meet people. A solid budget-friendly option in Vancouver.

It was nice to be able to store our luggage prior to check-in. The room was comfortable; although it was warm without the fan running. We weren’t present long enough to mingle with others.

Unser Zimmer lag direkt gegenüber eines Badezimmers, das renoviert wurde. Dementsprechend war auch die Geräuschkulisse. Da zwei Badezimmer gleichzeitig renoviert wurden, mussten sich insgesamt 3 Stockwerke ein Badezimmer teilen. Zudem war der Aufzug defekt.

I had a great stay at HI Vancouver Downtown! The location is perfect close to everything and easy to get around. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always available when needed. The rooms and common areas were clean and well-maintained, and the atmosphere made it easy to meet other travelers. I also appreciated the organized activities and the overall welcoming vibe. I would definitely stay here again.

Bare bones hostel. Just what you need though. room is spacious. Very clean. Breakfast was bare bones as well the day I was there. No fruit left and no juice left at 8am! An apology message was there but ... can they not send someone to pick up some bananas or something? There is major construction right across the street so don't expect to sleep in.

The staff was nice and so is the vibe in the hostel. The beds are comfortable but damn the bunk bed move at any breathing. Like it’s way too much. Got waken up every 3 hours. The bathrooms are very basic with the shower and stuff~ it gives highschool showers vibes.

Excellent place

Location was great, felt safe in the neighbourhood as a solo female. Well connected with buses around downtown, to north Vancouver, the sky train and ferry ports. HOWEVER in terms of cleanliness it felt gross - despite myself and my roommates following the rules of no food in rooms, there were mice in my room. I was told checking in there was a ‘previous’ rodent problem but it’s clearly ongoing. The hostel needs to do something to sort it out, considering how expensive it is to stay here...

Comfortable, safe, and clean accommodations. Large kitchen space, and dining area. Highly recommend.

Kitchen was big. Bathrooms felt a little unclean. Rooms were pretty good. Atmosphere -dead.. Not a place to chill.

I had a really good stay I felt safe the whole time which mattered a lot since I was traveling on my own. The staff were friendly and helpful whenever I had questions. The hostel was also kept very clean. Bathrooms and hallways were cleaned frequently, and it showed. They organized activities every day, which is a nice touch and makes it easier to meet people, even though it was fairly quiet during my stay in March. The only small downside was that the Wi-Fi could be a bit slow at times.

Great for the price. Safe, relatively comfortable, classic hostel experience. However, I’m not really sure what part of the hostel was “newly renovated” as is in the hostel’s description; the facilities definitely look like they’re more than 3 years old, so having that in the description led to some disappointment on arrival!

Great place to stay, felt safe and comfortable and it’s not too far from things. I walked everywhere and was fine! Breakfast is a huge plus, everything is clean and the staff helped me out with a things. Overall would definitely stay here again.

Positives: good breakfast, friendly staff, decent location... Negatives: uncomfortable beds, the 2 tours I wanted to do were cancelled with 15 minutes notice because of a little bit of rain, no atmosphere, in fact it had many newly homeless locals staying which destroyed any chance of conversation with 'fellow travellers'. The local in my dorm took up the entire space with his belongings and made me feel generally unsafe with the conversation he did make. First time I've left early.

comfy beds, clean, nice and chill social vibe

Everything was great except for one hostel staff member who was very high during every interaction. He gave us bad information about events and our rooms as well as other things. He also had a really bad attitude towards just about everything and was very rude overall.

Wasn't very social but was very clean. I stayed in a private room and it was extremely spacious.
