Bed bugs, old stinking wooden floirs, deteriorated and in need of some painting ar least to keep bed bugs far, doors not closing fine and mosquities getting in through cracks, despite being pretty far from center, loud bar with music was running till very late night Unfortunately, the whole Bocas del Toro has health concern issues with old wooden buildings, filled with bed bugs, many of them you'll identify from travelers comments. This one had no comments about bed bugs, I thought it's safe, it was't. Not to mention paying 170 usd per each night. On top of that, your seat on boat is not guarantee. They oversell boats, put locals first in boats and leave foreigners on the shore, for when there may be space. Don't think anybody will support you, not even police. Things work differently on that island. I bought online package boat + shuttle to Boquete. Needless to say I lost money on shuttle and we would havw been stuck there if there wasn't another small taxi boat that brought us to the other harbour, 4-5 to David and then another one hour to Boquete with last bus. Without taxi boat, would have spent anothet ridiculous amount of money on sone bed bug hotel/hostel. Beaches, while beautiful to take pictures, are not suitable for swimming. I was in small water, no apparent waves, yet felt the current strongly pulling me in. I would recommend for a wonderful and hassle free trip to book a hotel in David, it's half of the price and some come even with very good hot buffet in that price, very well maintained rooms. From there you xan explore Boca Chica, Boca Brava and surroundings have very nice beaches, calmer water.
