Gaurishankar Backpackers Hostel

Beware!!! BEDBUGS The staff was nice and also the entire conplex. But the didn‘t seem to understand where bed bugs come from. They referred to rainy weather and that they come in through open windows. We dont mean to harm the hostel, but to share awareness.

The major problem with the hostel is that the facilities were terrible. You had to expect the toilets not to flush properly or to simply not work at all. Often the hot water wouldn't work and sometimes the water wouldn't even work. The electricity started cutting out for long times and they told me they had a blackout in the whole area. I went to a hostel on a different street and their electricity was fine.

We stayed in a womens room with 2 bunk beds. There was a lot of noice during the night from other people in the hostel as well as the surroundings, and small bugs on the floor. It smelled a lot of mold in the room coming from the bathroom. No hot water in the shower, apparently due to there were no sun (they used sun panels?). Very damp bed sheets and the fan was too loud to have on during the night so it was very hot. No locks on the door from the outside or to the hostel entrance, so anyone c...

Staff is super friendly. Nice chilling courtyard Outside. Neighboring hotel/bar was very loud into the night. Hard to sleep because of that.

Very nice outdoors common area, but the rooms are damp, old, smell bad and they need renovations.

Nice place but dirty and saw a couple cockroaches that made me leave before finishing my booked stay.

It’s fine. The garden is really nice but all rooms are attached to the garden. So you’ll hear everything. Especially the dorms at the ground floor are open all day and the bathroom is outside. Easy place to meet people and yoga classes!

A great hostel but far from the center

The staff was awsome and helpful, and the common area was really cozy. Perfect location close to the lake, shops and restaurants. But often there was no water in our bathroom - so you couldn’t use the toilet or take a shower. Luckily they had 2 extra showers and toilets that are for common use. But it was a bit annoying to have to walk outside and find it in the night.

Schönes Hostel, nette und hilfsbereite Mitarbeiter. Das Einzelzimmer und das Mehrbettzimmer waren mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht, bequeme Matratzen und sauber. Im Garten lässt es sich gut entspannen und Leute treffen. Das Hostel liegt nur wenige Schritte vom Phewa Lake, Shops und Restaurants entfernt.

Very well situated in Lakeside with a lovely courtyard and bar that would have a great atmosphere during the busier season. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Offers activities around Pokhara and luggage storing for trekking. The beds could have been comfier and bathroom facilities are outdoors rather than contained in the building. However, still extremely good value for money.

Gorgeous hostel in Pokhara. Totally recommend, super peaceful and a gorgeous community vibe here with lovely hang out space and comfy beds! Love the staff so friendly and helpful, made friends for life ❤️

Wir waren für ein paar Nächte dort und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Personal war supernett und die ganze Atmosphäre war entspannt. Besonders toll war der chillige Außenbereich mit vielen Pflanzen – richtig grün und gemütlich.

Very clean but basic hostel in a good location, nice cafe/bar common area. No real hostel activities or any social vibe which is fine. The walls are very thin and it is quite noisy at night. Also the male staff sniffed my underwear to check if my laundry was clean. The lady receptionist was very nice though.

One of the best i have stayed in

Probably the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at! David and Teresa are so thoughtful and they took us to some hidden gems of the island. Felt more like staying at a friends house than at a hostel. 10/10 would recommend!!

This is my second time at Gaurishankar and I love it. The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, the courtyard area is a great place to hang out and it’s in a great location. All for a great price

stayed in this hostel more than a week. i loved everything the room (bed very comfortable), the common area it's amazing and all the staff it's very nice and very helpful. the location it's perfect a bit away from the main street

Very good vibe. One of the best stay in pohkara lakeside road. Very genuine and friendly staff.
