- The facilities were disgusting. It looked like the place hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. There were utensils on the floor in the kitchen, a lot of food on the floor too. Dishes weren’t washed, no clean towels… just the worst. Almost all toilets were clogged, a lot of them didn’t even have toilet paper. The showers were also clogged with hair - again, facilities weren’t being cleaned. It’s a shame because the bedrooms were okay, but this made the experience horrible. Would not recommend.

+ Awful. Absolutely filthy- the staff are clearly not being supported to clean up. The bathrooms were continuously out of order, and the same old hair and dirt was on the floors the whole three days. I honestly did not want to touch anything. by the time I left ALL of the female toilets were out of order. This is happening because they do not replace the loo roll, so people are flushing hand towels and blocking them. Loo roll and soap are constantly out. The kitchen was FOUL. I am not fussy but I have never known a hostel like it- dirty pans and old food left around to stink for days, dirty dishes piled in the sinks,no tea towels and food spills left on the floors: a spilled egg was not mopped up in the three days we stayed. Why aren’t staff doing anything about this? The power went overnight and when I rang the member of staff seemed put out and the fix was very slow. Something needs to be done because the rooms are OK and if management sorted out an actual cleaning rota it would be fine. Extremely negligent and honestly disgusting.

+ The personal at the reception was super friendly and supportive.

- It wasn‘t clean, value for money is completely off (especially compared to other accommodations), no AC and no mosquito nets (which explains all the squashed mosquitos on the walls), the beds have been uncomfortable and it was super noisy, you could really hear everything despite being in a two person bedroom.

- One of the pillows and bedsheet were with blood stained . As the reception was closed in the evening . I only managed to change the pillow case with the reception the day after but not the bedsheet . The manager said they checked the bedding prior to my checking in which I doubt and I sent them a photo of the stained mark. In addition to that , Booking.com website stated that my King room should come with tea/coffee maker facilities . The manager of Haka house said it came with kettle only but without coffee and tea

- Habe ein Zimmer mit privatem Badezimmer gebucht und dies war wohl doch nicht verfügbar. Somit wurden wir ein ein Doppelzimmer mit Gemeinschaftsbad verlegt. Auf unserem Gang war die Dusche defekt, auf der Toilette nicht mal Toilettenpapier. Außerdem war es maximal hellhörig und extrem laut. Die Zimmer Mini, sodass man fast erstickt.

- Could not get to your place b/c the road was washed out n we were not notified

+ Location and Facility of the property is perfect. Feels like a home with the arrangement and perfect place to spend the weekend or vacations.

+ Location to town

- It is actually a back packers hostel, which is not shown on the booking site. Lots if youngsters and you have to share toilets and showers as well. Ideal for younger people who are on a tight budget, so should flag this as a positive option on the app. We did not sleep there, but walked down the road to a nice Motel instead

+ Location is good and quiet. Good kitchen and communal area. Staff are awesome, best property staff I’ve dealt with.

- Shower door was broken, got stuck and couldn’t get out 😅. The walls were grubby, stains and dirty finger marks everywhere.

+ Kitchen / dining area very comfortable. Perfect location, love it

+ Sadly this was my only stay in the Haka House Hostels (my choice) and I was very glad I did! I had a most comfortable double bed with a little balcony overlooking the bush so I could hear lots of birds. I felt very spoiled having a TV - this was not usual in the places I stayed! The kitchen/dining/lounge spaces were very nice and the hostel was in good walking distance to everything.

+ Out of all of the Haka House’s we stayed in this was our favourite. We only spent a night before our glacier hike, but the private king room was super comfortable and a nice short walk to restaurants and activities.

- Check in was a little confusing but we got there eventually with ID. Seems all our Haka House bookings randomly changed name to my wife

+ I really loved the vibe at this hostel, very quit and relaxing. Amazing facilities and very comfortable room.

+ The kitchen and all bathrooms were clean and well maintained. There are a sufficient number of bathrooms and toilets to serve all of the guests. I especially liked the sauna!

+ They had everything we needed for a group of us on a motorbike trip 🙂

+ La chambre avec deux lits jumeaux était confortable et propre.
