Got bitten pretty bad by bedbugs unfortunately, in a private room, told the staff discretely but people should be aware there is a risk of this

Very social hostel with friendly people and activities offered everyday. Free drinking water and comfy beds (with bed bug spraying twice a week!). Only things that could be improved: no towels provided and the lock for the locker is not provided as well. They told me it was stolen several times, but just take a deposit like you do for the key, would make it a lot safer for everyone. Hostel and connected café are cashless by the way, so payment only by card.

The overall stay was horrible. I booked the single room and it looked like a bunker, no AC and worst part of all: upon lifting the mattress there were many disgusting stains and blood from bedbugs. I told the staff who was unbothered and moved me to another room, which had the same issue. They refused to refund me.

Rooms are okay and location of the hostel is great! Bar is also okay but most of the activities got cancelled when I was there… so not very social. Unfortunately, there were bed bugs in one room & they didn’t really do anything about it because from the reviews it was clear that the problem was already there before I arrived.

The hostel has BED BUGS. Our female dorm and the dorm next door both had bed bugs. They moved us to another dorm which was supposedly free of them but we found them there as well. Seems like a reoccurring problem in all different dorms and they’re not really getting rid of them properly. Staff was very helpful and gave us tokens to do the washing and also fumigated our bags. But when I asked for a refund because we were moved from a 3 to an 8 bed dorm they told me to message the manager and he never even replied. Do yourself a favour and stay away from that place.

BED BUGS!!! stayed in dorm 13, bed G (a double bed) shared with my boyfriend. Woke up at 3am and saw THREE bed bugs crawling around, informed reception and moved us rooms to a private room (the bare minimum). We were given coins to wash all our stuff in the laundry room, but were given 10 coins short of what we needed, and they refused to give anymore.. but they gave us BED BUGS. all staff seemed to not care about the situation, no apology at all. There were still people staying in dorm room 13 probably blissfully unaware of the infestation. There were also signs on the backs of the doors that stated everyday the will be "fogging and spraying insect repellent daily" we didn't actually see them doing this once, but it could also imply they already know about the bed bug issue. We are also down 140 ringgits to get our backpacks dry cleaned properly, which they didn't offer to pay for. I know it isn't the hostels fault that they got the bed bugs in the first place, but once they have them, it is their duty to eradicate them and take responsibility. They didn't care about others getting them and they didn't give a **** about us. Also the "unfinished industrial vibe" in the private rooms is grim.

I am really dissapointed with my experience at Mingle hostel. (Most) of the staff was rude, it was dirty and they had bedbugs. I wanted to leave and get a refund. They promised to get back to me but after 3 reminders never did. Then i told them in all honesty that i was going to write a bad review after this, and they told me i was threatening them. A super weird response and bad alligation after they were the ones with 0 communication. Hope they will not threat customers in the future like this

One girl in my dorm found bedbugs on my last day and the staff didn't seem to concerned... Had otherwise a great stay there.

BEDBUGS. If this review was solely about the social aspect and people at the hostel, I would rate it highly. The girls female attic rooms were all infested with mosquitoes and bed bugs. All of me and my roommates clothing were riddled with bugs and we were covered in bites. Emailed the hostel about this after leaving and they would not listen or do anything about it even though I had to wash all of my clothing at the next stop at a high cost. Also bathrooms were literally in hallway weird vibes

This hostel had bed bugs (June 2024). The hostel staff were good about it but the fact they had a system in place suggests that it’s a common occurrence. Not sure if their thorough cleaning was that good. Hostel location is great but when I came back to KL for one night I found airbnbs for not that much more with pool and gym, so would never book a private room here for what you get

When I notified the reception, they told me to return in the morning with all my belongings for washing and simply moved me to the bed above the infested one. The next morning, I brought my laundry to them, only to be told I had to wash it myself. This meant spending one of my three days in Kuala Lumpur stuck next to a washing machine, which was incredibly frustrating given I was not responsible for the bed bugs. Eventually, they did take my laundry, but when it returned, 40% of my clothes had shrunk and 10% were completely ruined. When I showed reception the damage and suggested they reorder the clothes or compensate me $100 (a fraction of the total cost), they refused to help. The bathroom facilities were appalling—filled with insects, lacking changing rooms, and with no gendered bathrooms, making it extremely awkward. To top it off, there were buskers singing loudly right outside the window, making it nearly impossible to sleep. This was the worst treatment I've ever received from a hostel. I strongly advise anyone considering staying here to look elsewhere.

BED BUGS BEWARE!! My legs are COVERED in bed bug bites !!

Pro: Location - there are plenty of places to eat and things to see without it being too crowded or noisy. Easy access from nearby station to other parts of KL, although I spent most of my two days in this vicinity! Atmosphere - really nice atmosphere with lovely, friendly people staying. Nice communal areas and rooftop area to meet other guests. There are activities most days. Con: The room and bed I stayed in was right next to the lobby, where some guests would hang out at night. Due to bad sound insulation and build of the hostel, the noise would echo and travel into the room easily even if the guests are not talking so loudly. The night staff do not seem bothered about asking guests to keep their voices down (perhaps because they don't know how loud it is in the dorm room). The door to the room would bang shut rather than close quietly. I could hear people climbing stairs and walking around upstairs above my bed. Even with earplugs I could not sleep well. The building is old and has plenty of charm, but there are some downsides to this. On my first night I could only find the cold shower next to the lobby. The sign inside the shower says it is a warm shower, and for cold shower to go to the showers opposite. I later found the showers "opposite" (i.e. in another part of the hostel) are the warm showers! They are also a little bit more private, with more hooks to hang your clothes. I did find the cold shower refreshing after a long hot day though! Bed sheets were stained and after reading reviews of bed bugs I was worried. Luckily I did not get bitten once - I'm sure the hostel is tackling the issue!

would have been great if it wasn't for the bed bugs, they were in my initial dorm and then also in the private room they moved me to. staff were nice about it all, but wouldn't give me a refund when I decided to leave early due to the bed bugs.

Found bedbugs from our room. Obviously didn’t want to stay in the room and we didn’t get any refund. Jacuzzi was not working, room was super small and bedsheets also full of stains and black dots. Location was good and there were nice people in the hostel but that’s about it.

Firstly be booked a private room with my friend and the room was so small you couldn’t even open the door properly. Bedsheets and pillowcase were dirty, BLOOD stains and also a lot of little black dots all over. Slept there one night and in the morning our friends found 3 bedbugs in their room and they noticed they had bites all over them. We obviously did not want to stay in the hostel after that and went to the reseption to talk about the sitution. The staff were not helpful att all, pretty much all they said was that the bedbugs were only in one room and they dont know where they came from. Didn’t get anything refunded. And as far as our friends did get 2 ”upgraded” rooms in the same hostel and both of them had bedbugs in them. There were bedbugs literally on the bed after the staff had checked the room. And the staff had the audacity to blame our friends for putting the bedbugs in the new rooms on purpose. Later noticed that we also had bites on us, so i do not think for a second that there is bedbugs only in one room. Also there was supposed to be a jacuzzi in the rooftop, but its was under repair. Would have been nice to know that in advance. Also the pictures of the hostel are very generous and reality is abolutely something else. Would not book this hostel again.

We left the hostel after 1 night and didnt get anything refunded nor did our friends.

Over all a good hostel. It’s in a very old building and that’s the vibe of the place as well. Staff was nice and accommodating. But lots of bed bugs and mosquitoes and no one seems to care about that. Had to ask the staff to service my room after two three days since they don’t do it on their own. Location was nice.

Bed bug infestation - I tried to reach out to booking.com support but no one is getting back to me

While the social aspects were great in this hostel and the beds were comfortable, a few people in my dorm found bed bugs in their beds.

2 local guys came inside our room at 2 AM and requested for our passports and took a picture of it. They said they were immigration but the receptionist said they were not at all. I also have bed bug bites right now which started the day I slept in the room.

Property was nice, but did have bed bugs. They let us change rooms when we complained about it, though.
