Avenue Hostel

We had a very unpleasant stay. There were bed bugs in the room and we were bitten during the night. This made our stay very uncomfortable and unhygienic.

Unfortunately bed bugs were found in my bed even where they moved me to another room, same issue found !!! I decided to leave immediately and not to stay a moment Hostel management considering to refund me full amount and waiting.

I had a great stay at Avenue Hostel last night, all went without a hitch, went to bed, passed out and woke up in the morning! For the price and location it’s very good, the guy at the reception was very nice and they have breakfast and all sorts of activities also! And funnily enough I stayed here 5 years ago, and then it was good! I was concerned there might be bed bugs. Good News, I survived. So, I can highly recommend Avenue Hostel for anyone who likes a good deal! :)

Excellent placement and affordable price. During my stay (Apr 2023), I haven't experienced any bed bugs or unclean enviroments. The shared shower was clean and nice. The staff was amazing, watched Napoli Soccer match together, was very fun. I recommend this as an affordable place to stay for a few nights and especially for big groups wishing to stay in the centre of Budapest.

Bedbugs, moldy food, workers are really mean even though we were only nice, worst motel experience in my life.

Such an horrible experience. So poor customer service. The manager is arrogant and entitled. I had some ankle issue and i ask gently tò the manager to have a lower bed. Imagine pay something and being treated as a criminal. She is totally unavailable to help me. She was rude and make me very uncomfortable. I dont understand why i cant have a normale human treatment. Unfortunetely was also my birthday. The hostel was one of the worst i have ever seen. It's full of homeless man in their 50is and food is rubbish. I am sad for this people. There was a very bad vibe. If u look for older reviews, you can see that they usually stole luggage and there are bed bugs.

Die Lage des Hostels war perfekt und ne Haltestelle direkt vor der Haustür, allerdings war es durch die große Straße nachts sehr laut, v.a. durch die lauten Sirenen ist man mehrmals aufgewacht. Für den Preis kann man echt nichts sagen v.a. auch weil Frühstück inbegriffen ist. Die Rezeption ist 24/7 besetzt, es ist immer jemand vom staff da. Ein ganz großer Minuspunkt leider, dieses Hostel hat ein großes Bettwanzenproblem. Achtet da unbedingt drauf, das ist absolut nicht cool, weil alles andere aber echt gut war, trotzdem 3 Sterne

Das Hostel liegt sehr zentral, öffentliche Anbindung direkt vor der Tür. Das Hostel ist sehr laut und sehr voll, das muss was für jemanden sein. Die Türen zu dem Schlafsälen sind aber sehr schalldicht, innen hört man nichts vom Lärm im Hostel. Allerdings ist es relativ stickig und muffig im Schlafsaal und man ist direkt an einer sehr großen, lauten Straße. Das Hostel hat außerdem ein Bettwanzen Problem, um das sich sich wirklich gekümmert wird, auch auf Bitten hin.

The staff this was second time there guys on counter kind of rude or careless the staff before was better they mention on board it will be like Latino party tonight in their bar but nothing just words I also kind of remember a lady asking or complaining about bed bugs I can't confirm for sure but the room looks cleaner to me

The bathroom was had dirty floors, the pillow was yellow underneath the sheet (i put my bedbug sheet underneath the bedsheet just in case. The people living in the dormatory were loud when they came home and loud when they took off in the morning. The staff also came to clean before check out time making it hard to sleep in the morning. A bit expensive for overall facilities.

Noise... The whole place is nonstop jungle orgies... They stole my milk 🥛 cartoon from the fridge... The building trembles every time a tram passes by... Bed bugs..

dust and bedbugs, cause for tiny shaking beds they buy wood from construction rubbish. Full of older, criminally looking local men, sitting or laying 23 hours a day around. Or standing in common showers naked. The same is a ,,manager,, and bearded ,,receptionist,,, who are even hearing voices from above.)

The shower was sticky and the toilet was dirty too. There was nothing where I could put my cloths on. The bedroom was smelly too.

Unfortunately I got bitten by bedbugs in my bunkbed during my stay there and now, after more than 10 days, I'm still struggling with this at home, getting bitten every night. Never had this problem after staying in hostels for over 10 years, so when I was there i though I was just bitten by mosquitos, no big deal. But that's definitely not the case. If you are lucky not to stay in a bed with bedbugs or mites or whatever it is, it's a nice hostel. If you are unlucky, then you'll be regretting and cursing your decision to go there even after leaving the hostel and you might end up getting bitten by bugs in your house, night after night. I now noticed other people complaining about the same situation in their reviews so the hostel wasn't able to solve this problem

I was bit by something on the bed/mattress the entire night. They were definitely not mosquito bites. I had five bites on one hand and one on the other and the reception could only offer me a sanitizer spray. It's been 4 days since the stay and the bites are not going away and itch a lot. The receptionist was not sure if they had another mattress in case there actually were bed bugs. Plus you also have to buy a padlock here and the doors to the lockers open super easily even with the locks on. No lactose free/non dairy milk option for breakfast. You also have to pay a deposit in cash for the keycards and this was never mentioned in the profile or messages sent for checking in. However, they do let you pay in USD, GBP, EUR and others.

Breakfast times are strict While free, the breakfast is high in carbs with most items high in sugar. Eggs, cucumber / tomato would be the healthiest option. Each "area" has 4 or so rooms (a private, and some dorms of 8) with just 1.5 bathrooms. This can mean long lines to shower or use the bathroom. Limited common space in the 'area' and in the reception. Main kitchen by reception isn't for common use. The dining area is closed half of the day, so you'll want to go to a café etc. Remember to get your deposit back for your room key! All in all, if you know what you're getting into, it's a hostel and it was good for the price.

It was the first time in my life, ever, that I've encountered bed bugs. I've had itchy skin for the next week after spending a moment in my bed. The beds are probably the least stable ones I've ever come across. Every movement of people sleeping in neighbouring beds, let alone someone climbing up and down OR walking around causes a literal earthquake. You can use the lockers, sure, but you're gonna need YOUR OWN PADLOCK. But don't worry! The reception staff just so happens to have a padlock that they'll sell you for 2 euro. I didn't get an hour of sleep on my first and only night there. Had to find a replacement accomodation. Avoid.

Ich hatte nach der ersten Nacht ziemlich viele Stiche,die sich wie Bettwanzenstiche angeordnet waren und es wurden jede Nacht mehr. Fotos waren nach der 1. Nacht.Habs angesprochen, der Typ hat im vorderen Teil der Matratze nachgeschaut nix gesehen und das wars. Im Nachhinein hätte ich das hostel wechseln sollen. Selbst wenns andere Tiere waren..Meine ganzen Beine und Rücken waren voller Stiche.

My boyfriend got bed bugs here unfortunately - we spoke to management who said it may be ants or a spider so felt like they didn’t want to take responsibility. They agreed to changing his sheets but hours later we came back to our room and sheets hadn’t been changed. Bathrooms are clean but bed linen felt like it was overdue for a replacement and the room was extremely dusty. Appreciate the free breakfast.

Punaises de lit. Bien entendu j'ai été mordue plusieurs nuits. J'ai été très déçue. Beaucoup de bruit aussi. Emplacement sur axe principal. Personnellement je n'y reviendrai plus jamais.

Unless it's for one night and there are no other options, don't stay here. Pictures are incredibly misleading - the outside and downstairs have clearly not been touched in years, rooms are much smaller than expected and way too hot. The doors of the lockers were worn so we couldn't lock our bags away - some of my clothes went missing and when I asked the staff they were incredibly unhelpful and rude. Also found bedbugs! Free breakfast was a nice touch but for the price overall is not worth it.

Stayed in a private nice and clean room, until the next day woke up with bed bug bites. More bites with every night, the longer I slept. Let’s just say I was very upset with my experience many days after my trip. My partner and I went to the laundromat to spend our precious vacation time washing everything then to a pharmacy to get allergy pills /anti itch creams. The hostel offered 10% discount for the “inconvenience” which didn’t cover the laundry or medicine and never followed through with it

El hostel es muy bonito. Sin embargo, la experiencia no fue del todo buena, ya que en mi cama había bedbugs (luego vi en otras reviews de Google que otra gente se había quejado de lo mismo en el pasado, por lo que es un problema que parece que todavía no solucionan). Tenía picaduras en todo el cuerpo. Cuando lo comenté, me cambiaron de habitación y se ofrecieron a lavarme toda mi ropa. Lamentablemente, cuando me devolvieron mi ropa, estaba bastante húmeda, y tuve que irme así al aeropuerto. Otra cosa para comentar es que me quedé esperando varias de las actividades que promocionaban (drinking games todas las noches, jam de música los martes), pero nunca sucedían, no sé si porque no comenzaban en horario o porque directamente no las hacían. Una lástima. Por último, ¡la ciudad es súper ruidosa! Por suerte, las habitaciones en las que estuve tenían doble ventana, lo que aislaba muy bien el sonido, pero hacía mucho calor, por lo que las dejábamos abiertas por la noche. Recomendaría ventiladores en las habitaciones (sin tener que pedirlos en recepción) o aire acondicionado.

El hpstel no esta mal, pero me picron chinches. Eso es un horror. Me cambiaron de habitacion y me lavaron la ropa for free. Pero realmente espero haberme librado de las chinches, son algo espantoso. Ese detalle hace que lamentablemente no recomendar este lugar, hasta que solucionen ese problema
