Unexpected costs after our stay I stayed at Sunset Destination Hostel with two friends between 26 February and 2 March. During the stay one of my friends found a bed bug in the bed, which we immediately reported to the staff. I stayed at this hostel two years ago December 31st, and choosing it was a huge mistake. As an Indian traveler, I found the environment unwelcoming and outright racist. I strongly advise all Indian travelers to avoid this place.

Tourist trap. I don't normally review places while I'm here (November 2025) but I'm devastated that I spent money on this hostel, so it's my duty to tell others. The service at the bar is awful. The barmen was rude and didn’t care at all

This hostel may look beautiful on the surface, but nearly every aspect of the actual experience was frustrating and poorly designed. The biggest issue was the sleeping situation. Upon entering the room, body odor smell hits you like a wall. Bunks were assigned, and for some reason, all guests from warm climates (like Madrid) were put on the bottom bunks, while those of us from cooler regions were placed on the top. A l'arrivée l'établissement réclame un supplément qui n'es pas précisé lors de la réservation, avec une réponse agressive de l'aubergiste quand on parle de ce sujet. L'emplacement est au-dessus d'une gare a partir de 1h il faut appeler le réceptionniste pour qu'il nous ouvre lui aussi agressif et désagréable. Dommage car un bel espace comme celui si pourrait être superbe mais le personnel et les suppléments ne le permettent pas

Mi hanno rubato una felpa e sono andato in reception per chiedere se qualcuno l avesse trovata e appunto mi hanno dato dello stupido e del bugiardo perché secondo loro non potevano avermela rubata 3) Durante il mio soggiorno per ben TRE VOLTE non mi funzionava la carta per entrare in camera. PAGLIACCI Ah ho appena scoperto che mi sono stati rubati pure gli occhiali.

BED BUGS ☹️

I’ve never stayed somewhere with 0 ventilation. No fans no windows and the staff said there was nothing they could do to fix it. The room was so gross and stuffy I woke up each day feeling ill and unable to breathe / swallow. Staff said all the rooms were like that when I asked to change. Good location but not worth not being able to breathe.

Das Hostel ist sehr zentral gelegen und die Lobby ist super schön eingerichtet mit vielen Pflanzen. Alle Mitarbeitenden waren sehr freundlich und haben uns alles ganz genau erklärt. Unser privates Zimmer mit eigenem Bad war die perfekte Wahl. Frühstück ist auch vorhanden, aber für 8€ darf man natürlich nicht zu viel erwarten. Leider sind die Zimmer sehr hellhörig, sodass wir nachts immer wieder durch andere Personen wach geworden sind. Insgesamt für den Preis und die Lage aber top!

Overall clean, the staff especially Pedro and Sara were very kind & helpful (I don't know about others, I only talked to these two). The location is great you have two huge public transportations right around the corner so you can go everywhere fast. But it's also a good starting point if you want to travel by foot. My only small problem was finding the entrace as it is in a huge building with a Starbucks & a souvenir shop but it's on the top floor which you can reach by elevator or escalator.

The hostel is really well located, in the heart of the city, so you can really discover lisbon by foot just from the hostel. The accommodation was clean, practical and with a locker big enough to fit all of my belongings. The shower (both in the dorm and the communal wash room) was clean and practical as well. The staff was also very kind, helpful and welcoming, especially João and Ira, especially when doing a mate check in. I would recommend staying in this hostel and would 100% come back!

One of a kind experience staying in an active train station. Great location and wonderful service. Iracema (honey lips) and Sara was exceptional.

Lisbon was the highlight of the trip — and the hostel had everything to do with it. Great events, spotless rooms, and bathrooms that stayed clean all day. Came with a group, left with zero complaints.

Joao ci ha accolto con gentilezza e simpatia. Per noi è stata la prima esperienza in ostello e siamo rimaste soddisfatte. Organizzazione ottima dei servizi, ambiente giovanile. Troverete tutto ciò di cui avete bisogno all’interno dell’ostello. Super raccomandato!

I had a great time staying here, I met lots of cool people every single night and the activities are also a great way to meet people. The room were clean, showers were well kept and overall staff was very accommodating. Jane even let me keep my in the hostel for a Cooper hours after my checkout!

Great spot, location and staff. Only note is it’s pretty quiet- good for sleep, not so much for socializing. Sister location is where all the partying goes on!
