Desert Palms Alice Springs

We had booked one night, but ended up not staying because we found bed bugs when we checked the bed at check-in. To the credit of the staff, they handled the issue professionally and issued a full refund when we presented the evidence of bed bugs in our room. Unfortunately, bed bugs are a common issue in hotels across Alice Springs, so remember to check your bed before unpacking your things.

The property is well situated to get into town, plenty of parking which is secure. Whilst the property is clean and well situated, the mattress/pillows in the cabin I was staying in are infested with bed bugs. Unfortunately it takes a few days for the bites to become obvious but when they do, it is highly uncomfortable. In retrospect I can now better understand that there were signs of this infestation but I was not aware of these until I had been bitten over the course of three nights. The email I sent advising of the infestation was replied to in a cursory manner and I have my concerns that no action will be taken. I am therefore unable to recommend this accommodation to fellow travellers.

I really want to start this review with the fact the service here was immpecable! I do not know the names of the ladies that helped us as house keepers were absolutely incredible as was the manager dealing with the issues. The resort itself is great the pool the rooms facilities are wonderful. Unfortunately we woke up with bed bugs and I am suffering badly they were well engrained. I am very understanding of the fact this is an issue in Alice and not limited to this hotel, but the ask is if it is a known issue what are the extra measures being put in place? I want to thank the housekeepers for washing and deep cleaning all of our clothes and as I said the manager offered a full refund cannot fault service and I know the bed bugs weren’t put there on purpose ……….just disappointed that my holiday is now full of antihistamine and steroid cream?

Nice appartment style hotel with everything you need for a few days of sightseeing in the Alice Springs area. Four stars because there were bed bugs hidden between the linen...
