I've spent a total of 60 days traveling in Japan, Nikko Park Lodge was most unpleasant hotel I have stayed at. The building is old, I'd guess from the 1950's, and they haven't done anything to renovate it recently. The whole place stank of mildew and mold. My room was on the fifth floor, the smell of mildew was even worst when I entered the building, so I'd guess the room down there were even more musty. I left a day early because the mold was triggering my allergies.
There are parts of the floor that feel like you’re going to sink through. It’s clean-ish, but the security system is such that people consistently forget to lock the door, and it is often open all night. There are lockers, but they’re small and from what I can tell they don’t come with your bed. Location is the best thing about this place. I’d probably spend the extra cash and sleep somewhere better.
Great position and friendly staff, but the rooms are old and a bit dirty. If they improve on it, can be a really nice place!
Only game in town, and a bit a dingy compared to what else ive encountered in japan. servicable but deserving the low score on here. Weird beds, weird layout, weird facilities. Not a total nightmare hostel but im glad i was just dipping in for 1 night on my Nikko overnighter.
L’hostel est fonctionnel. Les lits superposés du rez-de-chaussée sont très biens, spacieux confortables, avec intimité et prises usb et secteur. Il faut juste ne pas avoir peur d’être dans un dortoir de 18 lits mais nous n’étions que 6 au total donc Ok) Les bémols sont la luminosité, personnel peu agréable, le manque parfois d’eau chaude et l’espace commun nul du rdc. Cependant à l’étage c’est agréable plus type Maison japonaise avec une cuisine (même si juste évier m...
The hostel is functional. The bunk beds on the ground floor are very nice, spacious comfortable, with privacy and USB and power plugs. You just have to not be afraid to be in a dorm of 18 beds but we were only 6 in total so Ok) The minuses are the brightness, unpleasant staff, the sometimes lack of hot water and zero common space of the rdc. However upstairs it is nice plus Japanese type house with a kitchen (even if just microwave sink and refrigerator).
Pretty average place with a good location. I stayed in the standard dorm, bunk beds were VERY loud and creaky, storage area next to my bunk was dusty and possibly moldy? Heated blanket was nice to have though. If I had a choice I would not stay here again but if it is your only option, it is fine.
Had all the facilities I’d need, sheets were clean are freshly starched, and i had a safe and warm night’s sleep. Can’t ask for more, especially at this price. If you’re looking for luxury or aesthetics, consider your options.
Hostel très bien situé, simple avec le nécessaire. Seul petit bémol, trop peu de douche , donc ça peux être parfois un peu la queue si l'hostel est rempli.

Perfect emplacement to go around Nikko
Great location, beds were nice and the cleanliness was okay. However the owner was not hospitable in any way and kicked us out of the common room before closing time, twice.. For a short stay of 2 nights it was fine but I would not recommend it for a longer stay.
