+ Nothing. The racism and hate from the the white customer which were allowed by the staff made the experience horrendous
- The building was matched the neighborhood well
+ The staff was very racist. I am a Black American male. My first roommate was a young white lady. She was moving all night in the bed an uncomfortable. We never spoke. Apparently she asked for a room change. My second roommate was a white middle aged man. I arrived around 11pm. I had to prepare my luggage for possible early flight. I moved very lightly. He started screaming. I said my apologies it will take 15 minutes. I finished in ten minutes. I left my room at 1am. I am writing a physiology book. I didn’t return to my room till 9am. The guy is 6’3 and angry. He started yelling at me about where was I at all night. He was angry. I said I was working on a book I am a physician. He was hateful. He said I couldn’t be a doctor and stop lying. Now I am really seeing how ignorant and racist he is. He goes to the front desk. He starts yelling at me in front of the staff. She does nothing. He lied. Said he was afraid of me because I had 2 dumbbells. He considered calling the police. I was shocked. Now I have a white staff lady kicking me out because two white people complained and I know for sure the white man is lying. Then he is in my face. Pointing his fingers in my face. I am waiting on her to tell him to calm down but she doesn’t. She listens to his lies despite the anger and hate he is yelling. He was very concerned where I was for 8 hours. I was writing in the lobby. The staff knew I was there all night It was such a toxic event filled with lies and hate. I could not believe the staff ignored this man’s hate and bullying me in front of her. This is the most racist hostel/ hotel I have ever been at or experienced.
- The staff are racist and allowed their guess to make accusations and be abusive to me. I was quiet. I was calm. I was considered. The hate and disrespect and calling me a liar because I am a physician and didn’t want to spend money on a hotel was beyond demonic. No guess should be able to treat another gas in that manner with staff present
+ It was clean and staff friendly.
- The heating system was making a terrible noise and during night sometimes but last night it made noise non -stop until morning and I couldn’t sleep at all!

+ I'm traveling a lot, most in Europe (Switzerland,Netherlands,Germany,Austria,Italy and more countries only this year). I stayed more than in 20 hostels so I do know about hospitality, prices and so on. To stay in Kama central park hostel was my worst experience ever! I liked bar area but just for eating not to relax as there is no lounge area in a hostel. Food was good, coffee as well. Girl at the bar was really friendly and nice also like the nightshift guy. He was really friendly, smiling, helpful. He should work in the day time at the reception but not his other 3 colleagues ladies (not friendly, sometimes rude and ignoring with poker face). One more positive thing I've met really nice girl and we hang out together, she was my roommate in 6 beds female dorm. But it's nothing has to do with the hostel, it's matter of luck.
- Stuff - awful attitude and treating. Rooms - extremely tiny, no space for luggage at all so for 4,6 people. S size lockers in 4 bed dorm so you don't have safe space for your backpack, only in storage room at the reception. No elevators! To get stairs daily to the 3d floor with a heavy luggage wasn't an easy task but even tho you don't have space to open your luggage in the room. Ones you open it no one can enter the room or movie. -The best and dangerous part is the heating, its central and start working automatically around 11 pm and getting up to the extremely hight temperature like in sauna and you can't regulate it. At the reception they told me it is what it is. So in 6 bed female dorm on the 1st floor the heater is really close to the capsule and I burned my leg and went to the hospital. I've got second -degree burn just in 1 second as heaters are not covered and there is no any worring sings. Right now I'm back to my country and try to heal but I gonna have a big scar. I was informing receptionists for 2 days about my situation and they were just total ignoring me by saying that it's not a problem of the hostel but my problem. I have pictures and all proofs and report already to Nyc housing recourse portal and gonna proceed to the Nyc housing court. Hope this information gonna safe a lot of travelers from burns! -Overpriced - I paid almost a 100$ per night and it's not worth it not even 1$. I stayed 4 nights and I had 3 different reservations as they didn't have availability for all days that I need. -Too crowed - I haven't sleep no one night even with the ear plugs as people were checking in/out night-day without any respect to others. Hitting doors, making shower in the room after 2 am, opening luggage and so on.
+ Everything was dirty, too many hair and stains on towels and they smell like doddle

- Dos 5 atendentes que com quem tive contato, apenas 2 foram gentis; os demais foram rudes e não tinham interesse em ajudar quando ocorriam problemas, como a troca da senha da porta do quarto por duas vezes.

Its very clean and pod was very comfortable. Not all knobs functions inside the pod. No elevator, can be a pain if you're carrying something heavy up and down. The locker is tiny. cant even fit a backpack in it.
Good staff, nice guest, did not have to worry about my stuff getting stolen. Overall I would say I had a good experience. My only complaint is I wish there was indoor seating.
BUYER BEWARE: does not match picture! Instead of sleeping pods as shown, it’s just curtained beds like every other hostel. They also promised breakfast but it was gone long before the end of the breakfast window and it was only bagels, literally nothing else, not even milk for people who brought their own cereal. Just coffee creamer. Room was very cold; front desk staff admitted our radiator was broken then later denied us promised space heater. Meanwhile their radiator was toasty. Stay at HI...
Un hostal perfecto para hospedarte, mientras visitas new york.
Das Hostel hat eine wirklich gute Lage fast direkt neben einer Bahnstation. Auch mein Pod war gemütlich. Leider überwiegen aber die negativen Punkte: Die Küche im Keller war extrem dreckig, es gab nur zwei benutzte Plastikteller für alle Gäste und kein Besteck. Das Frühstück war sehr enttäuschend, jeden Tag das Gleiche (Bagel mit Butter und Marmelade) und oft schon gegen 8:30 Uhr leer. Man musste also sehr früh da sein, um überhaupt etwas zu bekommen…
I was honestly pretty surprised with how nice this hostel was. You're right in front of central park which was amazing and you have bike rentals just outside of the hostel for convenience if you want to ride around the park. 6 min walk to the subway and 2 blocks away from the bust stop. Food all around within a 5 min walking distance. I stayed in the womens 6 bed dorm. The pods were excellent! Showers and bathroom were very clean. Also 22 min bike ride to 5th Ave through the park.

Overall good experience, the only problem is that everyone can enter the hotel and reach any room freely, but atleast there are code locks for the rooms themselves. As for the service, everyone was nice and answered my questions patiently, good facilities, you have everything covered. Would come back again sometime.

Stayed in a 2 bunk bed female only room. The pictures were 100% false advertising. The rooms and beds do not look anything close to what they’re advertising. No sliding door, the bed was thin mattress on wood, the ‘light’ was a plug in from Amazon. And the bathroom is shared with the whole floor and does not look anything like what was advertised. Didn’t want to complain because the staff was not the most approachable and did not want to mess with my booking or stay. It was a bed.
It was a practical stay here! Everyone seemed to keep themselves to themselves here, quiet atmosphere. Rooms’ beds didn’t have the slider door as expected, rather a fabric curtain. Good location as next to Central Park, free breakfast which was handy.

Room was truly so small - we stayed in the 2 person pod room. Barely room to get changed. My sheet was dirty, had like dried gum on it (disgusting). The windows aren’t sealed properly and the radiator doesn’t work so we were absolutely freezing at night - all they could do was give us another thin blanket. Shocking. Showers had mold and the bathroom sinks would barely work without the tap falling apart. Awful stay. Don’t recommend.
Be aware there are no elevators or early check-in - I arrived around 1pm and had them store my bag in their storage room, which they did *not* charge me for! All in all, I was pleased with the room and my pod; however, my towel went missing between night 1 and 2 so I had to ask for another. There are built-in hair dryers, at least in the female rooms, as well as an extra bathroom (handicap accessible?) on each floor with its own shower, if you need one while a roommate is using your room’s.

O hostel é ok, oque me desagradou foi não ter um lugar no quarto para acomodar as malas, mas oque deixou tudo mais leve foram as pessoas, a recepcionista Júlia foi super receptiva e atenciosa.
It was an excellent experience. The location is great,andit has everything you need nearby. The metro station a couple of blocks away help you reach anywhere in the city. The girls in the front desk are great, specially Julia. She was super kind, polite and helpful.

Great experience at the hostel! I was very well taken care of. Julia (at the front desk) was extremely attentive during my check-in, providing all the necessary instructions. Throughout my stay, I could also count on her help for questions and recommendations. The breakfast could be improved, but aside from that, the experience was excellent. The location is amazing, and the housekeeping staff were very polite.
