BackStage Hotel

We were booked for one week but left after the first night because our room was infested with bed bugs. The staff at the front handled the situation well and our entire stay was refunded. They did offer to help find new accommodation as well clean our belongings. They also gave us bags to store contaminated items and alcohol spray which I guess kills bed bugs.

The staff was very friendly and helpful at accommodating us. The breakfast was very good. The stairs were very steep, which was ok with us, since we didn't carry heavy or big suitcases. Unfortunately, the room was not as clean as it seemed, especially the floor and the bathroom. The worst part, is that I got bitten by something in the room. I though it was a mosquito at first, but it turned out it was bed bugs.

Terrible experiencia. Literalmente estuve 2 minutos en la habitación y vi 3 bed bugs. El lugar está totalmente infestado. El servicio aparte de ser lento, cuando les comenté del problema su respuesta fue lo siento mucho, no tengo más habitaciones disponibles ahora ( Aún así no me hubiera quedado ahí pero lo mínimo era revisar el asunto). Tuve que salir a buscar otro hotel a las 2am. Un auténtico desastre.

Great accommodation in an excellent location. We had a clean room with a balcony overlooking the neighborhood, and it had a nice music-themed decor. The stairs to the upper floors are quite steep, so they may not be ideal for those with limited mobility. The staff were very friendly, and there’s a stylish bar on the ground floor. The neighborhood is peaceful yet conveniently close to downtown and some of the city’s top museums. We were initially just looking for a room in Amsterdam without rats or bedbugs, but this hotel far exceeded our expectations and was really worth the cost.

After our first night at Backstage, we discovered bed bugs in our beds. I woke up covered in bites and, suspecting bed bugs, used an iron to draw them out. Several adult bed bugs, each the size of an apple seed, crawled out, which I promptly collected and took to the reception. Although the hotel refunded our stay, we were left scrambling to find alternative accommodations in Amsterdam at 10 p.m. with my elderly father-in-law. Additionally, we incurred significant costs for dry cleaning to remove the bugs from our clothes. Overall, a nightmare experience.

Bed bugs!!! After the night the next day, I found a lot of bites on my body. We had room number 9. Be careful. Also, it was a little noisy outside in the yard at night from the external air conditioners
