Barbara's Boutique Hostel

Not a bad hostel. Has everything you need. But I left bracelets in my bed with the curtains closed. And found the curtain up because of cleaning and the bracelet was gone. I don’t think it was the cleaners but I don’t like how they change the sheets and leave curtains up. Never been a hostel that did that.

The worst hotel I ve made in Guatemala. The place is very noisy, you are wake up every morning at 4 am due to street noise, dogs barking and rooster crowing. More over, the hotel manager considers you as a product who arrive, pay and go back. This attitude is choking, even more in Guatemala, where people are so welcoming. In short, you can easily find a better place for less expensive, what we have finally done !

Not a fan. The rules and regulations alone made me feel very unwelcome. They actively do whatever they can to cheat you out of money- want to pay in dollars? They’ll convert from quetzales. Want to pay in quetzales? They’ll convert from quetzales to dollars to quetzales. I walked in on my room being cleaned and was not pleased to discover that all germy bedding was returned but my own belongings were moved, and WET, dirty towels were folded and put back in place. Great breakfast, clean, mattress has protectors, good location, Staff was unhelpful. They constantly would say no to things that were super easy. Ex: I wanted to use their laundry service and put my clothes in the machine myself/along side the lady as I have a few delicate items and wanted to confirm temperature.

Is okay until check-out. Due to the current protests in Guatemala, shuttles can only be booked for the night. Ours was supposed to leave at midnight but was postponed to 2:00 am. We were only allowed to wait in the hostel until 9 pm and were then put out on the street, otherwise, we would have had to pay for 2 more beds and breakfast, even though we didn't use any of it. Everything in the city was closed as well. Profit takes precedence over humanity!! We then received assistance from ano ther n

They changed the price on arrival to over 100 times higher than price of the room on the website. There was also no other room available so I needed to take the room after a long journey. Then they gave me a 'discount' to only something like 90 times of my normal price. Instead of that was my room good. Not really a hostel vibe in this hostel. Could be because it was raining season, but as they told me, every form was fully booked

Was really nice. One of the best decorated hostels I’ve stayed in. It’s quite expensive, but a good place to rest before and after the hike.

The hostel is super clean and overly secure; a couple of times I was locked out and had to wait, since no one gets a key to the hostel. You have to wait to be let in at all times. There’s no real social atmosphere; it’s empty during the days and most people don’t go out at night. No group chat to ask questions or connect. Also not enough showers or toilets and hard to figure out where to change because they keep the room doors open/bathroom too small. WiFi is spotty for virtual meetings.

Beautiful hostel. Really nice rooms and big shower with good water pressure. Quiet, so clean, free breakfast nice touch. Also the best stocked kitchen I’ve ever seen. Wasn’t any social atmosphere while I was there but it’s good if you want some chill nights somewhere homely

It’s undoubtedly a nice hostel, with great breakfast and friendly staff. It’s not that social at all, but you can still have nice conversations. Annoyingly the hot water is intermittent and the bathrooms genuinely not as nice as other ‘boutique’ hostels for the same price in Antigua. My towel was also stolen / taken by another guest (the only explanation) and I was still charged for a towel for a single use when checking out, which was a bit disappointing

Best hostel I’ve stayed in on this trip. Lovely staff and great social areas. Water pressure in the communal showers wasn’t great but it was in the dorm en-suite shower if you have one!

extremely kind and helpful staff, security was great and everything was very clean. well stocked kitchen with anything you could ever need! beds were comfortable and rooms nice. not the most social atmosphere when i stayed, but was a great hostel overall

Extremely clean hostel. First time staying in one and this one set the bar high. Yesenia is amazing. The place is clean, well run, and not full of people partying. The property is beautiful and well thought out. The kind women who maintains the property does her job very well.

Excellent stay at Barb’s while in Antigua. Fantastic facilities and communal spaces for ultimate relaxation mode. Beautiful property and well maintained. Would stay again!

Amazing hostel with great breakfast

Barbaras is honestly the best hostel ive ever stayed in ! Very clean, so pretty, front desk open 24h, employees are really kind and you meet incredible poeple, it is a very social environment and easy to meet poeple I highly recommend

Gabi at the desk was outstanding. one of the best hostels I have stayed at. Clean & well maintained, breakfast & snack in the evening were delicious and housekeeping staff did an exceptional job maintaining the beds, rooms & public areas.

Such a beautiful hostel! Would recommend to anyone. The vibes are so chill and the facilities offer more than you really need. The generotisty is unmatched. The staff are lovely and so helpful. Daily freshly cooked breakfast and afternoon cakes. Unlimited filtered water, tea and coffee! Daily cleaning of all facilities. Free WiFi. 24 hour security and cameras in social areas. What more could you want! I love this place and wish I was staying longer! I will definitely be coming back!

very chill hostel, great to relax after the hike. I was very comfortable, breakfast was a great bonus, they happily stored my luggage for me and provided me with an extra blanket. The bathrooms are clean and kitchen is honestly the best hostel kitchen i've ever seen. it's luxurious like a hotel, hammocks and bean bags to lounge around in.

Ive stayed at 40+ hostels and this is by far BEST hostel Ive ever stayed at. Felt like a hotel. Thank you to the staff! We even got free showers after Acatanego hike!!

Love this spot! Super clean, great beds, and the entire place just feels so inviting and classy!

One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in. Beautiful kitchen and very well stocked (utensils, spices, cooking oils, tea, coffee, etc). Free breakfast was delicious and filling. The staff always remembered my name and were always friendly. Cleanest hostel bathrooms Ive ever seen and even had shampoo, conditioner, soap, and lotion. Stayed in a private and a dorm room throughout my stay and would recommend both. Rooftop had great views, selection of workout equipment, and plenty of seating.

Overall great hostel and great experience

My stay at Barbara's was incredible. This was my first time staying in the shared dorms in a hostel and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Everyone was friendly, respectful, clean, and went to sleep at a reasonable time. The hostel was nicer and cleaner than hotels I have stayed at!! Will be staying here again if I return to Antigua :)
