Hello I'm Local Boutique Hostel

This place genuinely gave us bedbugs back in august 2021. We woke up after spending our first night there and discovered little dots of what appeared to be blood on all of our beds. At the time we did not know that having red blood spots on the bed meant there were active bedbugs in the mattress, so we just quickly informed the hotel staff who just gave us new sheets instead of telling us that those little stains are a huge indicator of bedbugs in the room. We all ended up going home not knowing that we also brought bedbugs with us in our suitcases, which led to all of us dealing with bedbugs in our homes which as one can imagine was horrible. Not to mention all of us were also covered head to toe in bedbug bites. Still traumatic to this day. Just had to get that off my chest.

Not clean, young staff not bothered about anything. Empty plates and cups everywhere. Gave up my laundry to get washed and dried for ten euros, and after being asked if I had any special requests for the laundry, I jokingly answered “clean” as I was assuming to the laundry to be normally washed and dried. The young unbothred person clearly didn’t use detergent. My clothes smelled as if they were washed in their own filth. The only thing that changed was they were warm from the drier. Ladders to the bunk bed in the dorms are criminal and totally misplaced. It’s like they found them somewhere in a museum from the 1600s. Climbing up barefooted hurts and is not really safe. I had a person in the room who you could tell, seems to sleep outside. The guy stunk up the room so bad, it made me nauseus. No wonder another person was complaining in a review about bedbugs. Just a start to finish terrible experience.

Sie haben Bettwanzen und der Service war nicht kundenfreundlich. They have bedbugs and I wouldn‘t recommend this hostel.

The hotel has bed bugs and mice running around freely. When we asked about it, we were offered a new room which also had bed bugs. We then asked about it again and were not offered a new room and we had to leave the hotel.

Some of us had a Bedbug invasion. The Fight lasted 3 whole days. 6 of us deserted and left the combat zone. Luckily we didn’t have any casualties on our side but we lost a lot of territory. The Amount of Casualties of the Opponent forces is unknown, but the Outcome is Clear: Victory for the Bugs.

Bettwanzen. Ich habe auf meinem Bett Bettwanzen gehabt. Dann das Personal informiert. Personal wusste schon davon, keine Überraschung. Sie haben glücklicherweise meine Sachen gewaschen, kostenloses Frühstück angeboten und das Geld für die Nacht (für mein Bett) zurückgegeben. Das Bad überschwemmt, keine Klimaanlage, leider würde ich das Hostel nicht empfehlen können. I found bed bugs on my bed in the morning. I informed the staff and they knew already, so no surprise. Fortunately they were kind enough to wash my stuff, they gave us free breakfast and gave me the money back for my bed. The bathroom is clogged, so when I took a shower, the water didn’t drain out. Also in hot days there was no AC. I unfortunately can not recommend this hostel.

BED BUGS!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!! The owner and staff KNEW there were bed bugs and STILL let my boyfriend stay in the infested room. Now we have to deal with not spreading them to our house. THIS PLACE SUCKS.

Helaas een slechte ervaring. Bij aankomst bleek het dekbed niet schoon te zijn. Dit kan gebeuren en werd snel opgelost. De volgende ochtend kwamen we meerdere bedwantsen tegen in bed en op de tweepersoonskamer Holstein. We zijn meteen weggegaan en bij het uitchecken hebben we dit gemeld. Het personeel kwam helaas niet met een compensatie of een andere oplossing. Ook geprobeerd 4 keer telefonisch contact op te nemen, maar hier werd niet op gereageerd. Voor ons helaas een nare ervaring bij dit Hostel

Bed bugs!!!

Apparently, we got bed bugs from this hostel. Please do not stay here if you don't want to have any insect problems back at your home. At first, we were not sure where we got bedbugs, but then we found another review from June 2023 saying the same thing...

Day 1 - harassed by neighbour from his yard which backed directly onto my room. He came right up to my window and shouted sexual expletives at me. Worst thing was that staff acknowledged that they had to report him to the police on prior occasions yet still put a lone female in the room. Promised a refund which hasn't been processed after 4 weeks. Day 2 - moved to another room which had bed bugs UGH. Refused a refund although they acknowledged the infestation. All a hotel can offer is safety and comfort. This hotel failed utterly and completely on both accounts. I will be pursuing this further.

Four Stars only because of a bed bug problem (this can happen at any place) which was handeled by the staff proffesionally, efficently and and quickly. The rooms are tidy and clean. We needed an extra blanket and got it right away. Staff was friendly and especialy Tara knew what she was doing (you guys are awesome). Houserules are enforced which is good. Heads up if you are a smoker: you have to exit the place entirely and walk 50 metres its a rule i can live with but you should keep this in mind if you are a smoker. Haarlem Innern City is about 10 minutes walking distance.

Sfeervol en gezellig hostel. Alleen zaten er bedwantsen op de kamer deze hebben wel ons weekend weg beïnvloed. Al werd het heel netjes opgelost.
