You stay in the house of marias family. the bathroomwalls in the dorm don’t go all the way to the ceiling so you hear everything going on in there and everyone hears you! just a bit creepy vibes in general. nobody speaks english. the food was really good tho!!!
We booked a double room with en suite but none of the rooms had en suites. There were just 2 toilets to be shared in the whole hostel. Only positives were that there is a guard at night and the food at the restaurant is nice.
Für den Preis auf jeden Fall in Ordnung. Allerdings wurde mir sowohl bei Checkin als auch bei checkout das Gefühl gegeben, dass ich komplett ungewollt bin. Obwohl von keiner Ausgangssperre die Rede war, stand ich um 22 Uhr vor verschlossenem Tor und wurde dann nach dem Versuch, daran vorbei zu kommen, abends UND morgens 20 Minuten an die Seite genommen und es wurde gemeckert. Hab mich da einfach nicht willkommen gefühlt und war gerne nach einer Nacht wieder weg.
However, I was given the feeling that I was completely unwelcome both at check-in and at checkout. although there was no curfew in question, I was standing in front of a locked gate at 10pm and was then taken aside for 20 minutes in the evening AND morning after trying to get past it and it was mocked. I just didn't feel welcome and was happy to leave after a night.
Sadly when I arrived the hostel didn’t have my booking. So I was moved to a double room with another person with no booking. The room was inside the family’s living quarters and just basic amenities. Fair for the price paid for the hostel bed.
Sweet family, great value for money. Private room costs the same as a dorm elsewhere. No kitchen, but the food they offer is tasty. Very well located.

We had a great stay at this family owned hostel! Cozy and chilled stay. Facilities were basic but clean. Food at the comedor was delicious and portions generous. Good location close to supermarket and kitesurfing schools.
Fantastic little spot. Maria is such a wonderful host and runs both the hostel and restaurant with her lovely family. Ensuite is great, mosquito nets provided, and restaurant open for most of the day with cheap tasty food. Only slight negatives are no social area other than the restaurant and the wifi was a bit spotty. But neither much of an issue when you're somewhere like Ometepe.
Very friendly family vibe hostel. We really liked Maria and she treated us like her sons.
