Gecko Hostel

Bed bugs, I had to leave and find another accomodation in the middle of the night.

I left a review on Hostelworld stating that I had to leave the property within 2 hours due to finding bedbugs. When I left, I showed the photos, was refunded, and it was agreed that these were indeed bedbugs. I also stated in my review that I understand and appreciate that this can happen in any hostel or hotel. I just checked my review and the response was "they were not bedbugs." As someone who has seen an adult bedbug before, and has access to the internet, I do not appreciate being accused of dishonesty. I am posting photos so that other people can decide for themselves. I have never been dishonest in a review and do not plan to. I would NOT recommend staying here, mainly due to the poor customer service. This is very disappointing.

Unfortunately, within 2 hours of check in, I checked right back out. There was a large adult bed bug crawling down my curtain, which I photographed and showed to staff. I know this can happen at any hostel, but I just had to flag it, to ensure it is dealt with properly. Also, there was no keycard to the dorm room, and it was unlocked, so in theory anyone from the general public could walk in. There was one bathroom and toilet (all in one ro) for 12+ people, which is not good if you get ill...

I had to leave before spending a night there, because I noticed a big bed bug. The weird smell in the room tells that there are probably a lot more of them. I got my money back. The staff is very kind and sweet, I hope they can do something about the bed bug problem, because other than that the hostel seems great.
