Hostel, more like hostile. I recently solo travelled from Australia. My hope was to make new friends and to easily explore the city. This was not the case. Firstly, the hostel is no where near the city centre. I nearly fell down the stairs carrying my backpacks to my room. While the staff just observed me struggling. As for the room itself, I’d rather stay in a prison. The beds were so uncomfortable, the bed sheets were dirty and crawling with bed bugs. Around the bed was covered in spiders and webs. There was 6 people sharing a tiny dorm room, so there was no space at all for storage of luggage. Upon my arrival, the staff were super friendly and welcoming. However, once I politely declined their offer of family dinner and to go to the club after as I had made plans to see the city itself. Their attitude completely changed and I felt incredibly lonely and isolated. I couldn’t even cry myself to sleep as I was sharing with 5 obnoxious, loud girls. My privacy was invaded numerous times. I had put a towel up as a curtain, as the hostel doesn’t provide curtains, and the girls cruelly took it down as I was sleeping as a sick joke. The staff also invaded my privacy when I was changing in my room and they unlocked my door without knocking, upon questioning she had no reason. I have no idea how they are able to call themselves oneFAM! I will never stay in this chain of hostels again.

This review is for the new ONE FAM AMSTEL. WARNING THERE ARE BED BUGS. Great place for social atmosphere but there are much better in the city like flying pigs with better location and longer history with bars and clubs. Too new to tell really, BUT low rating is because of the BED BUGS. I’ve stayed in many low budget hostels and this counts as mid price never have I had an issue with BED BUGS until here. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

Absolutely doesn't deserve the low rating it has, but definitely don't expect luxury. Came in winter and paid roughly ~€20 per bed per night, which is a great deal. I have no idea why people complained about the staff in the reviews, they were all lovely. Just make sure you read the T&Cs - cash payment. The kitchen is nice, microwave and fridge for your meals, free tea and coffee. It was quiet when we were there so it's a nice place to chill out. Onto the rooms. We were lucky our room only had 4 including us, which made it quiet and comfortable, and never needed to queue for the one toilet-shower combo. Easy to crack open the window to let some air in and a nice temp. Beds were really small which is not great, but got used to curling up by the end. Bedbugs got us though but not much you can do about that. But for the price you can't go wrong.

The good: Cheap. Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Common kitchen has a microwave, fridge and free tea and coffee. Room temperature was good, and you don't hear noise from outside The bad: beds are extremely short, I am 5ft tall and I touch the metal end of the bed. Made for an uncomfortable sleep for my taller husband. Bedbug. I saw a bedbug in the bathroom and we were bitten overnight. Staff didn't seem surprised or concerned but offered us to swap rooms. Not very social if that's what you are looking for

They still got BED BUGS. RUN . It's not worth it even if it's for free. I thought things have changed in one year, but ..No. Find another place, especially if you're allergic like i am to bed bugs . Good luck.

I had a terrible experience during my stay at this hostel. The room was smelly, and the cleanliness was far from acceptable. To make matters worse, I woke up with multiple bed bug bites all over my body, which is completely unacceptable. The bathroom was also very small and poorly maintained. Overall, the hygiene standards here are seriously lacking. I would not recommend staying here.

The room was gross and they had bedbugs. The staff was rude and in denial. I’ll have to go my bank to ask for a refund because they refused.

Worst hostel ever, infested with bed bugs, went with friends and we all came back with many bites, we have over 20 bites each arm. Rooms are filthy and the beds are too small for anyone over 5’2. Bathroom is tiny and dirty so I didn’t shower the whole time I was there. The stairs are steep and narrow and very precarious. Really regret having stayed here, not worth it.

The staff is nice, but that is it. The common area is okay but unwelcoming. The rooms are horrible, the smell is rancid. Bedsheets are dirty and there are bed bugs. Unless you are desperate for the cheapest place available, don't go there !

Honestly if I could just summarize this experience in a few sentances my go to would be: Just don't bother, for the prices they are asking, you can find way better looking, feeling and spacious hotel's/hostels probably not a short way away from Amsterdam. But the longer variant down below: Let me just start off by saying, I'm not a hotel/hostel connaisseur and I myself am just a novice traveller but I've had my fair share of bad places to spend the night at and this is defintely in my top 10. There should be a law or something forbidding the level of misery that is happening here right in the middle of Amsterdam, I understand that it happens to be a small establishment, but they way everything was arranged here in my 2 nights stay, everything screams that these guys are hellbent on taking every single cent of off poor tourists like me who do not do their homework properly on a place to spend the night when they are visiting a new city. After a whole night spent driving, me and my friend ( who made the reservation ) arrived shortly before noon, we got to the front desk and met a fairly decent friendly receptionist who we had a short chat with, what I didn't expect is that from the original price which I expected to pay I was unexpectedly told that we were going to have to spend out of pocket almost 200 more euro's extra for another mattress in the same room as the first one was booked, this was all a big surprise as my friend was the one who made the reservation on booking and he thought he booked a bunk bed with 2 mattresses, but alas aparently they only rent per mattress, not per bed. Seeing as to how tired we were after our trip, we just went along with the process, went took out money, paid the rooms all was well, after a certain wait in which the receptionist assured us someone would come over to clean the room up a little bit and to "arrange the mattresses" we would be sleeping in, when we finally go into the room to leave our stuff, there is just this guy in there that is fluffing the pillow a little bit, no more no less. Besides that I could confidently say, the sheets were not changed, the floor was not even broomed, the toilet was atrocious. But I digress, I thought, "ok how bad could it be?" and we went on with our tour of the city. Sometime during the evening hours I had the brilliant idea of checking the reviews for the place we paid to stay at and I was absolutely shocked about the mentions that some others have had about this place. We went back and tried to very nicely ask the new receptionist that was on shift if we could get our money back as we never even utilised the room, but we got greeted by a very rude and non-understanding eastern european sounding gentleman, who vehemently argued with us that there could be no recourse for a refund as that is what their Hostel's policy dictates, and if I had a problem I could contact the owner at their e-mail ( no direct phone number to contact a manager in 2023 ? ), obviously a ploy to get us to calm down and to just shut up. All things considered, we weren't about to just throw away almost 500 euro's on 2 nights, so we conciled and we did indeed spend the 2 nights that we bought in here, what more can I say other then thank god Amsterdam is so beautiful and we didn't have to spend more time in here then we should've. Luckly we never received bed-bugs like some of the other reviewers said here, but with the way our room was looking, I was fearful that something might crop up even 2/3 after the stay here. I will give everything here a 0 if I could, the only thing I can give is the place is located in quite a nice area, but even so it's only a 3, because this place doesn't have parking, and if you are someone with a car, bad luck, you must spend fortune on parking as to park the car on the boulevard it's around 6 euro/h. TL:DR: Please don't be like me and check the reviews for the places you stay at, if I would've been more inspired to actually check the reviews before we checked in here, I would've ran away from this place like it was the plague.

I was a student studying abroad and stayed in this hostel over the fall. If I could give this hostel zero stars I would. I sincerely do not recommend this hostel. I got bed bugs the first night and so did my friend shortly thereafter. The place is crawling with them. The place is small, dirty, and extremely overpriced. There are no elevators so you have to drag your luggage up and down flights of stairs, not very handicap friendly. There is no air conditioning unit so it was always musty and uncomfortable. Additionally, there are NO LOCKERS. The "lockers" are located behind the front desk so you can only access them at certain times of day and by requesting it from the front desk. There was barely any room for the receptionist so I have no idea how they would fit the luggage behind them. I recommend staying anywhere else in Amsterdam.

Trust my review as a former employee: WORST HOTEL IN AMSTERDAM. Bedbugs everywhere, no hygiene, the manager will try to charge extra money, be rude to you, make mistakes with your reservation and hold you responsible for it. Rooms of 12 to 14 people on triple bunk beds, with only ONE dirty/broken shower and toilet. Nothing will be as you expected.

Análise do ambiente
