Overall fair for the price, bed was not the comfiest but ok. Could be cleaner. Location is pretty good. I stayed at many hostels in SE Asia before but this one was the poorest so far - I’ve never experienced bed bugs and this was the first one.. stayed only for one out of two nights I booked for to stay away from any more nasty bites
Very disappointing, location is okay but the rooms are very basic and no atmosphere or places to socialise. Staff were very rude and unhelpful. I left and went to a hotel.
Nada!!!!
AVOID. CERTAINLY DONT BOOK THROUGH THEM. Not a great or clean hostel to start with but I booked a taxi to the airport through the hostel as I was in Beijing on a 24 hour layover. The taxi took me to Beijing west train station instead and the hostel blamed me (via phone of the driver) and said I asked to come here. I didn’t have any cash left and was told I couldn’t pay at the airport despite pleading. Left me stranded in Beijing without cash/internet/alipay with 2.5 hour until my flight.
Smerig hostel
The address was wrong The room was very dirty The beds are not separed so you basically sleep with someone else’s feet next to your face The “mattress” is an ultra slim one, it is basically a 10% of a real mattress. You can only feel the wood underneath you. The pillow and duvet were dirty, they provide bed sheets, but when making the bed I notice several holes on them. Dirty facilities in general! I’ve never had worse experience in my whole life. I had to leave immediately.
So expensive for what we get but sadly it is the cheapiest in beijing
All in all is the hostel s***. Staff in unfriendly. Police had to come at the second day because of some stuff. The location is decent and the tours are ok. But only in Chinese. All in all not worth it staying there again
Too much noise, people coming and going all the time, old bunk beds…

Nice hostel in Beijing. Li was incredible and very helpful!
This was a lovely place with an amazing host. She was also able to set us up with a great Great Wall of China Tour the night before.
Bed are very hard and on a top bunk you move the whole night with the bottom person and feel like you will fall out
Second stay, this time only 1 day. Still pretty much the same as last time. Very budget but a fine place to stay in Beijing, location is good
Was good just the location is not good as the place I been
Amazing! I am very happy with Li, who was sweet enough to give me a refund for a tour even though it was not needed! I loved this hostel
Good located but no really good hostel
While the hostel is excellently located—just a 10-minute walk from the metro and very close to the Lama Temple—the overall experience was disappointing. The beds and mattresses are incredibly hard, feeling like you are sleeping on a wooden board, which makes it impossible to get a good night's rest. To make matters worse, the staff is quite rude and impatient with guests. Considering the high cost, it is overpriced compared to other hostels and even hotels in the area; you can definitely fin...
depends what you're after. Although the room was warm, the rest of the hostel including the social areas and bathrooms were unheated (so freezing cold in Beijing winter). The mattress was rock hard/ thin, but this is a common theme in China hostels. The staff were okay, don't think they were in a good mood given the reception area was also unheated (I get why they were not the happiest). Long story short is I left after 1 night (1/4) and checked into a cheap hotel instead.
Location was good close to the subway few nice resturants around rooms not bad just not that nice.
Rude staff, WiFi didn’t work, showers and layout was bad, rooms were small, bed was hard as the floor. Was advertised as a 6 bed but was 7 beds in a cramped area. Would never stay here again.
Overall, the stay was fine, but a few issues affected my experience. The young reception staff were not very friendly or helpful. While I understand cultural differences, basic professionalism is important in an international hostel. The local guest in the top bunk repeatedly sat on my bed, left used personal items on it, and hung her underwear on my side of the bunk, despite there being a designated laundry area. I suggest reminding local guests to respect shared-space rules.
The staff wasn’t unfriendly but they were not really friendly, location wise it is right next to the Dalai Lama’s temple and a subway station but was a little hit difficult for us to find as the address didn’t work with our AMap. The biggest problem was just the lack of privacy in the dorms and the whole hostel was quite cold, but overall it’s not a bad hostel and it was very affordable!
Not a bad hostel. Friendly staffed that help book anything for you, even booking and paying for it themselves if your Wechat wasn't working. Room was fine probably a bit small if all 4 people were there but it was Ok with just 2 for my stay. Common area is basic but good for a chat. Close to good restaurants and metro.
Okay for a night or two but not the best. The toilets were not well maintained and the vibe in the hostel is very flat. The beds were clean and tidy but the noisy locks on the door were annoying (they make a sound every time someone unlocks them so it’s easy to be disturbed). Staff not particularly friendly but not unhelpful. The options in Beijing aren’t great so I was content with my stay here but I wouldn’t write home about it.
