The Yard Hostel

I've had an issue about a bed bug infestation during my stay. I reported it to the receptionist, she advised me to contact the manager by email. They offered me a compensation of 33€, which only covers the cost of medication I'm taking to recover from the bites. For a 3 night stay of 117€ I think this compensation is not enough, considering the dry cleaning costs and this very stressful situation, that is why I report this incident here. Otherwise, the staff was nice. The location is very good.

L'auberge est bien située, bien équipée seulement les proprio sont visiblement juste là pour se faire de l'argent sur le dos des gens sans s'occuper de les héberger dans des conditions décentes. Je n'ai passé qu'une seule nuit dans cette auberge et j'en suis ressortie avec plus d'une vingtaine de piqûres par des punaises de lit. Réveillée à 4h du matin avec des punaises de lit dans mon lit et sur les murs. J'ai passé le reste de la nuit assise sur le canapé de l'auberge sans possibilité de me rendormir. J'ai immédiatement informé l'auberge par mail, sans réponse de leur part... J'ai également laissé un mot sur le bureau de la réception et à plusieurs autres endroits. Une autre cliente qui partageait ma chambre à également vu des punaises de lit sur le mur de son lit. J'ai ensuite découvert, choquée qu'il y avait de nombreux avis google (juillet - août 2026) qui informaient de ce problème, dont une personne qui a eu un échange de mail avec l'auberge. Ils étaient donc parfaitement au courant du problème depuis plus d'un mois mais d'après eux, l'entreprise venue pour traiter n'a rien constaté et n'a donc pas traité. Comme c'est arrangeant. En tant normal, j'aurais été compréhensive car ce n'est pas de leur faute s'il y a des punaises de lit, en revanche ils choisissent visiblement d'ignorer délibérément les clients qui les informent de ce problème et choisissent de ne pas traiter. Non seulement c'est irrespectueux et contre productif car tôt ou tard ils seront forcés de traiter quand l'invasion sera hors de contrôle, mais c'est également irresponsable car ils contribuent à la propagation de ces parasites dans les hébergements, villes et pays fréquentés ensuite par leur clients. Autant dire que subir des démangeaisons qui m'empêchent de dormir la nuit pendant plus de 10 jour associé à la crainte de ramener ces insectes dans mon logement ainsi que toutes les mesures préventives et particulièrement contraignantes à réaliser en rentrant chez moi à un fort impact psychologique.

Nothing, maybe a the central location Left after the first night because how bad it was. The bed was definitely not that clean and the bunkbed was a wooden wobbly construction. Haven’t closed an eye that night because of the person moving underneath my bed. On the picture it looks like closed of bunkbeds but the frames don’t touch the sealing what in result in seeing al the lights from the other beds (picture taken at night). Also the curtain was to small so even more light came true. And I am not speaking about how much noise you could here even when I wore a noice canceling headphones. Reading the reviews about the bedbugs was my last straw and when I asked about the bugs if they were gone in the hostel they told me I couldn’t get a partial refund because they haven’t found them Yet in room 5…. That is just waiting for a problem to appear.

Location was perfect and staff were very kind and helpful My room had bed bugs and I’m still dealing with the pain from that a week later. I believe I was in room 11, so please make sure you double check if you stay there m

Super Lagr,bequeme Betten mit Vorhang Bettwanzen ...

Es ist an sich ein schönes Hostel... Ich hatte Bettwanzen. Ich habe zweimal die Betten gewechselt, aber alle 3 Betten waren verwanzt. Man hat mir fesagt, man würde das Problem professionellangehen. Kurz danach war das Bett wieder von jemandembelegt worden. . Ich hatte nach einer finanziellen Entschädigung gefragt. Stattdessen wurde mir ein zusätzliches Handtuch berechnet. Die Wanzenstiche waren sehr schmerzhaft Ich konnte drei Nächte kaum schlafen

It was a great location, close to the central train station and shops. I was bitten EVERYWHERE with bed bugs. And I wasnt the only one. Multiple people in different rooms also got bitten. I ended up leaving and finding someplace else because I was in so much pain. And I also saw the bugs in my bed linen. If it wasn’t for this it wouldn’t be too bad of a place. And they did give me a full refund because I showed them the bites and the photos of the bugs in the bed, and I refused to stay in a different room.

De locatie! Middenin het centrum, vlakbij het station. Goede douche Ik slaap regelmatig in hostels en vind mijzelf niet zo kieskeurig, maar ik vond dit een minder fijn hostel. Sowieso goed opletten, want toen ik er was, waren er bed bugs en ik had niet het idee dat het hostel daar goed mee omging. Slecht matras, idem kussen. Personeel weinig aanwezig, toont weinig vriendelijkheid. Past ook wel weer bij de Finnen. Ik hoef hier niet terug te komen.

Grateful to have a refund pending. Bed bugs… such a shame because would be lovely otherwise. Shocked to see this has been an ongoing issue for MONTHS. Clearly the whole place needs to be shut down and properly fumigated as it isn’t isolated to one room. Felt awful and a real hassle to have to wash my entire bag worth of clothes.

Great location and was very quiet while I was there Bed bugs in my room. No staff on site most of the time. No one answers the emergency number if you call or text so no way to change rooms when this happens. Door code doesn’t seem to change and room keys are left in envelopes on the desk (which is handy if you lock yourself out of your room because there is no staff on site). Only 4 bathrooms, two of which open directly into the galley kitchen.

It's a nice hostel, but unfortunately I had bedbugs in my bed so I left after the first night. Bedbugs:(

BED BUGS. L'ostello in sé è carino anche se più piccolo di quanto sembri dalle foto. Camere abbastanza spaziose e letti comodi. BED BUGS che è un problema enorme visto che oltre alle punture rischi di portartele a casa e dover disinfestare tutto anche lì. Ho visto, troppo tardi sennò avrei cancellato la prenotazione, che ci sono altri commenti delle settimane precedenti, inammissibile che nel frattempo non abbiano disinfestato. Non mi è piaciuto che non c'è nessuno presente in struttura, io sono arrivata alle 5 pm e ripartita alle 8 ma. Non mi è piaciuto che davanti ai fornelli ci siano i bagni.

The location is excellent. The common area is nice and cosy and the kitchen is comfortable. The room was good. It’s a quiet hostel to relax after a long day. Feels like home. There was one major problem which was bedbugs. I woke up covered in red bites all over my arms, hands and legs. If it wasn’t for this, I would have loved my stay but it really ruined it because I couldn’t sleep well and then I was all day itchy Bedbugs. They ate me up. When I checked out and told the girl at reception she pretended to not know and said she had never heard of that before but I am now reading other reviews and I was not the first to go plain about this, so they know.

Everything, except the bugs in the bed which I was not able to see at all in room 9 I was stung the whole night and it was painful

My room had bed bugs that were so numerous that they came out in DAYLIGHT. I was refunded ONE NIGHT for the inconvenience of having to pack up everything, buy a new suitcase, get another bag, uber to a laundromat, book new accommodation, and wash and dry absolutely everything in the indignity of a supermarket laundromat. which also took about 10 hours of work.

On face value the place looks nice and feels relaxing. However, one of my hostel mates found a bedbug on her bed. Also 2 people kept on taking turns snoring which was super annoying. Good if you are tight on cash but sleep quality might be poor unless you can sleep through snoring.

Good location and hostel looks very nice. But we booked a twin room and there were bed bugs. There is no one staying in front desk, so can’t change the room.

Bed bugs!!!

We arrived there late, and we woke up the day after to find out there were tons of bed bugs in our beds. There wasn’t anyone at reception, so we wrote to the hostel and they were quick to reply and refund us. Nevertheless, the amount of bugs make me feel like they were there for quite some time. Be careful!

BED BUGS I am so mad about it! After i realised the ictyhiness and rushes i was trying to understand what it can be. I realised it can be bed bugs and i got suspicious abiut my stay there And i started to read the comments about the hostel. And there ! There are other guests that was complaining about it! I m so mad that why they didnt do anything about it before! So disappointed!

Nothing, see below. I have no idea why there so few comments mentioning this. I booked this place thinking I would save some money since I was only staying for two nights and just needed somewhere to sleep. I chose it mainly for the central location. I honestly cannot believe I am writing this. For the first time in my life, I experienced bedbugs here. I had never dealt with this before, and it has been a shock. My entire body is now covered in bites – large, swollen, extremely itchy welts. It’s uncomfortable, stressful, and frankly disgusting. I regret trying to save money. Whatever you think you’re saving is absolutely not worth the physical discomfort and the anxiety of dealing with this afterwards. For reference, I stayed in Room 8 (female dorm). I have stayed in very basic accommodations in much poorer countries and never encountered anything like this. This was by far my worst experience.

Die Lage war super und das Zimmer hübsch. Durch seine Lage Richtung Innenhof war es auch sehr ruhig. Leider habe ich Bettwanzen mitgenommen. Die Rezeption war äußerst selten besetzt, da die Rezeptionistin gleichzeitig auch die Zimmer geputzt hat.

They have bed bugs and when I told them they didn't do anything about it other than have a look and say didn't find any. Avoid.

I got bit by bed bugs. Other than that, it was a great location. The rooms also had great sound proofing. Couldn’t hear anything in the lobby. Bathrooms were small though. Staff was super nice and helpful

Unfortunately, I had a very distressing experience at this hostel. This was the first accommodation of my trip, and during my stay I developed widespread bed bug bites across my body, including multiple bites on my face. The itching was severe and continued for days, causing sleep disruption and visible marks. After leaving Helsinki, I continued traveling and stayed in other cities, but I was constantly anxious about potentially spreading bed bugs, which affected my peace of mind for the rest of the trip. The hostel refunded the cost of the bed, but no further resolution was offered despite the impact this had on my health, sleep, and overall travel experience. I would not choose to stay here again. As above.

I was bitten in several places in my bed. I'm really afraid it was bedbugs, though I didn't see any traces on the linen. I woke up from the bites at 3 a.m. and couldn't get any sleep. It's good that I only stayed one night and had to leave at 5:30, but I had to treat all my things afterwards just in case.

Great location and facilities, friendly staff when present, overall good value for money. Self check-in was easy although it is good to keep your WiFi on in case the door code changes. Unfortunately my bottom bed in room 6 for 8 people was infested with bed bugs, only one other bed was occupied so I didn't get a chance to check if others were affected. I noticed the red bites after the first night but hoped it was some kind of skin reaction to alcohol or food, however on the second night I caught 3 bed bugs. Hope it gets sorted out, don't ignore the signs like I did :(

1. Very severe bedbug issue in dormitory. I have never encountered this before so initially i thought it was just dry skin allergy. Later symptoms started to show up on the following days (20+ bites). Had killed 5 bugs the morning i decided to move out early and stay somewhere else. Had a pleasant stay at this hostel a few years ago so I rebooked it this time. But this time very disappointing. Symptoms still affecting me even I've returned home already. 2. No staff on site after 5pm. There were 2 nights with a big group travelling together (there were 10+ of them staying at different rooms). They practically ignored all house rules and treated lounge as it's their home and being very noisy till late. No staff to turn to. Overall very disappointing experience this time

The location is great, the kitchen is alright and the living room and the beds are quite comfortable. As of the end of November they have a bed bug infestation. I noticed it after the first night, and was allowed to switch beds (not rooms though). They "treated" the room. In the second night I found and killed 5 bed bugs, all in various life stages (from tiny to adult size). I understand that it's not the hostels fault for having bed bugs but I don't think they treated the problem as serious as it was. They didn't close down the room to deal with the problem so it's just gonna get worse. There were two other people in different corners of the room to also see bed bugs. We at least got a refund. If they can deal with the infestation then I can recommend the hostel.

A localização é excelente, próximo ao comércio, atrações e da estação ferroviária. A cama tinha bed bugs, sai de lá com vários machucados por conta disso e havia outros hóspedes reclamando. A atmosfera do lugar é muito estranha, não há funcionários, a área de convivência é de um silêncio estranho, não havendo nenhuma música ambiente e nenhum tipo de interação.

The location was ideal, very close to the station and walking distance to everything I wanted to go. The lounge was great and the kitchen was pretty nice. There was a bed bug and I was bitten all over. After I talked to the staff about it they seem to have arranged a pest control treatment. The action was swift and appreciated, but even after that I saw bedbugs at night at might bed. I had to change accommodation halfway my stay. I talked to them about it on their WhatsApp (shown as contact at the reception but no response).

Workers are friendly toilets does not have bidet and i found one bed bug in sofa in the living area.

I got bed bugs from this hostel. Other than that, the location if pretty central and you can reach most places on foot.

They left the key for me on my arrival. Firstly, I had to sleep outside in the living room because I got bit by bedbugs as soon as I fell asleep. Needless to say It was not a good night sleep and I had to deal with the aftermath of the bedbug bites for days, very unpleasant. I wasn't offered any solutions, just had a 'sorry' They should make sure all beds are hoovered daily when someone checks out. Not a pleasant experience

Location and it was quiet and chill inside, which is nice I stayed in Room 5. The room was dusty, and the carpet clearly hadn't seen a vacuum cleaner in a while. The air conditioning was broken, and the window couldn’t be opened to let in fresh air. I saw a bedbug running across the floor!:(
