Please read!!! *INFESTATION* I will start by saying that the service was very kind and accommodating however the rooms reeked of a strong, musty smell from the bathrooms that are coming from unventilated, damp areas which made it difficult to sleep. I would suggest to the hostel to remove of any carpeting and wooden furnishing.. People are coming in and out of the dorm rooms as some dorm rooms are connected to each other and there is no lock, so you have no idea at any given point while sleeping. This is how the hostel is naturally set up. I was kindly removed at the courtesy of the staff however found a large cockroach in the new private room crawling all over the walls the next few nights, in addition to the same smell to sleep with. I then noticed a dead exoskeleton of a potential bedbug on the bottom mattress that I did not make, sleep on, or left my clothing near leading to an inspection by the staff around the mattress and decor. I was then left with actual bites on my body over the next two days upon waking up and saw a live one on the bed. PLEASE!!! do not sleep here and spend an extra few bucks for your comfort and safety and to avoid the mild PTSD i now have from this place in remedying the situation. The hostel did offer to help with laundry and was very kind and accommodating about my requests which I am grateful for but it is still not OK to have these hygienic issues. Edit: After their response, I will testify to say they were mosquitos, but as you can clearly see by my photo, there were bed bugs. I can differentiate what bites are happening to me, because I get a lot of them my entire life especially when I travel and I have been to many hostels before. The dorm rooms are connected to each other like a maze, as others have stated. I am fully aware that people are coming in and out as it is a dorm, but to have separate DORMS be connected to one another is a safety issue as you become unaware of who’s coming in and out. And yes, people have mental health issues, not “exaggerated” language, but thanks for being human anyway. Thanks for reading my review as well. This hostel should still be avoided at all costs for cleanliness ***[+ for continued attempts to discredit my claim because i did not point out suspected bedbugs on the last night, it was the third night I was there i noticed the exoskeleton and i stayed the first night in a dorm not the new room, so the inspection had awaken live ones that were potentially hiding; trying to blame me for the lack of cleanliness is insanity to protect your business from failing, but be my guest; karma will come back around to you for trying to be dishonest and use a hypothetical and blame as a defense mechanism] Thank you again for arguing with me on Google Reviews instead of taking accountability.

Bedbugs and bites. Cockroaches. Extreme smell of mold. However, grateful for kind and accommodating staff.

We stayed in a room with a bed bug infestation, and through previous reviews, it became clear that this has been an ongoing issue at the hostel, not a one-time occurrence. We were told the bugs likely entered through an open window, and that the room would be cleaned, but I doubt cleaning alone would resolve the problem. I found a bed bug on my backpack, which raised concerns about bringing it elsewhere. There was also visible mold on the wall near the head of the bed, with a strong, unpleasant odor. Past r

Booked for 4 nights and left 12 hours later. Extremely disappointing experience. On arrival, the toilet was clearly not cleaned with visible fecal smears and the smell from that aftermath permeated the room. The ventilation was poor, and despite being advertised with air conditioning, this was absent with only a dusty metal fan provided. After sleeping one night, I woke up with itchy bumps on my back, thighs, and buttocks which I suspect were caused by bedbugs. When I tried to check out and request a refund, I was told to email the team. While they were very responsive before my stay (particularly when confirming my arrival), they have since ignored all followup messages about the issues and my refund request. Would not recommend staying here! EDIT in response to the Owners follow up: I want to clarify that I do not have a friend staying elsewhere — that is a completely false statement. My brother was arriving in town later that afternoon, a detail I clearly explained at check-in. Due to the unacceptable conditions of the accommodation, I chose to check out early and secure alternative lodging for both of us. Regarding the claim about bug bites, I am well aware of the difference between mosquito bites and bed bug bites. I am allergic to mosquito bites, which swell significantly on me. The manager’s attempt to dismiss my concerns and gaslight me in order to protect the their reputation is both unprofessional and offensive. As for the lack of air conditioning, the metal fan, and visible fecal stains (I didn’t want to have to share this) — please refer to the attached photos. I’ve also included the rickety bed with a broken ladder which was not the same bed as shown in the listing. I showed the toilet photo to a staff member during checkout, and they admitted it was not in that state when it had supposedly been cleaned that morning. So the question remains…. who used the PRIVATE ensuite before I arrived? Additionally, pointing to multiple emails as an issue is absurd. It is basic courtesy and standard practice to acknowledge receipt of a guest’s email. Lastly, after that experience I had no desire to spend another moment in that room, let alone return to it to validate what I explained.

I stayed 5 nights. Location is quiet It WAS on a dark street, but the street light was fixed during my stay. There is some musty smell as reported by other guests, but I wouldn’t describe as moldy. Others also cited bed bugs - no problem with me, but mosquitoes are voracious in the common courtyard. Regarding other guest’s security concerns: I had none and consider it very safe. Staff was incredibly nice and the free breakfast is a nice touch - nothing crazy but does the job and for free! Unfortunately the room I stayed in (which I had all to myself - thank you!) smelled mildewy and like sweat, sheets didn’t smell very clean, and I got a cluster of bites that I’m hoping aren’t bedbugs! When I lifted the mattress to check for bedbugs I saw several dead bugs as well. Location was fine, central and ok before 11pm but a bit nerve-racking to walk around alone after then. It was mostly quiet at night which is great, but during the day I could hear pretty much every word spoken in the hostel - walls don’t seem very thick and there was a gap in the wall next to the door so I could hear the outside just the same as if I were out there. Not super social vibe but I chalk that up to it being very much off season. While there are electronic codes for the street door and the hostel door, my room itself didn’t have even an option to lock from the inside / a code, which made me a bit uncomfortable as a young solo woman. Bed was fine in terms of comfort - just had an issue with bugs. Overall my stay was vaguely unpleasant and I tried to be out as much as I could, staff was super wonderful and the other guests were totally fine, but I wouldn’t recommend.

Staff is so wonderful and nice and the free breakfast was basic but totally did the job! Location is convenient - definitely à bit sketchy at night but I felt fine coming home any time before 11. There were two electronic codes (one for main door one for hostel door) but there were no keys/codes for the dormitories. Unfortunately there was a persistent mildew and sweat smell in the room, dead and living bugs, and I got some bites that I’m hoping aren’t bedbugs! Overall would not return :(

If you are looking to meet a lot of new people this is a great place! I loved the free pasta dinner the most because it allows you to connect with other travelers in a fun manner. It’s also close to the main station. In my room there was a bed bug problem but the receptionist was very helpful. He accommodated me in a different room and tried to find a solution. Although hygiene should be improved, all in all it’s a good price-performance ratio.

Je n’ai absolument pas pour habitude de mettre de mauvais commentaire, mais mon séjour dans cette auberge de jeunesse a été une expérience à la limite de cauchemardesque. Nous avions réservées pour 3 nuits, et dès la première nuit, j'ai été piquée à de multiples reprises par des punaises lits, ce qui m'a empêché de dormir une seule seconde. Face à cette situation, mon amie et moi (ainsi que les 2 autres personnes présentes dans la chambre) avons été contraintes de passer le reste de la nuit à l'extérieur, sur des chaises. L'état de la chambre était tout aussi déplorable. L'humidité ambiante, les taches suspectes sur les draps et les odeurs désagréables témoignaient d'un manque flagrant d'hygiène. Bien que le personnel ait été à l'écoute en nous proposant une nouvelle chambre, il nous était impossible de rester une nuit de plus. Il est évident que l'établissement ne prend pas au sérieux les problèmes d'hygiène. La présence récurrente de punaises de lit, comme en témoignent d'autres avis, confirme ce constat alarmant. Je déconseille vivement cette auberge de jeunesse. Un tel séjour est une atteinte à la santé et au bien-être des voyageurs.

Nous avions réservés 3 nuits dans cet hôtel : Surprise, punaises de lit. Le personnel à été extrêmement gentil et nous as proposé des solutions de dernière minute: première nuit dans les dortoirs, la seconde dans la "chambre" du staff, avec une "fenêtre" constitué d'une feuille de plastique rigide et une "porte" qui ne ferme pas. Heureusement, l'intégralité de notre séjour nous as été remboursé. Au final, nous avons choisi de partir plus tôt de Palerme car nous ne nous sentions pas en sécurité vis à vis des lieux et nous n'avions pas d'assurance vis à vis de la salubrité des lieux. Mis à part le problème de punaises, les chambres étaient poussiéreuses avec une propreté générale douteuse. Nos draps étaient tâchés, ainsi que les matelas (Moisissures ? Maquillage ? Déjections d'insectes ? Impossible de le dire.) La porte de la salle de bains, chambre privé ou dortoirs, possédait des clés mais pas de serrure, ce qui ne permet pas de fermer à clé. En résumé : personnel gentil, mais propreté et gestion de l'hôtel bancale.

The staff were lovely and you can see so much effort has gone into the hostel however we didn’t feel overly safe as you aren’t given keys to the dorms (ability to lock them) and there had been a break in the night before we had arrived yet the door code preventing people getting in remained the same. Additionally reading back the reviews of bed bugs and multiple breakins left me questioning the hostel a little. But overall the hostel itself and staff were great

photos are deceiving, dorm rooms not lockable, people going through my room to get to their own, power points hanging out of the walls all around the hostel with exposed wires, not a toilet seat in the entire property, shower leaked in my dorm flooding the floor, cockroaches in the communal bathroom in common area. other guests had bed bugs as well as property being burgled few days prior to arrival. free breakfast was a shambles.

DO NOT STAY IF SOLO FEMALE. I got awful bed bugs, after being assured by the staff that there weren’t any, and the hostel was broken into during my stay, and I and other travellers were robbed. If I could give a 1 on location and safety I would. This is the worst hostel I’ve stayed at in my entire life. The hostel is located in a really unsafe area of town, not only was I followed back to the hostel one night, but the hostel also has awful security. Bathrooms also stink of damp and mould.

Staff were extremely friendly and Location is amazing but disappointed at the lack of accountability for the bed bug bites that I received. I flagged this after the first nights stay and they had mentioned that they had already inspected it prior to my stay indicating that someone had already flagged the issue. Looking on HostelWorld there is another person that reviewed around the same time as my stay saying that they too were bitten by bed bugs. They disregarded the bites saying that it could have been just mosquito bites but the bites were in clusters, extremely itchy and red. 2 weeks on and the bites are still present. I messaged them again after my stay which they saw and have just ignored unfortunately. I wanted to avoid writing a negative review but I want to make sure no one else gets bitten if this isn’t being taken seriously.

Terrible experience. I could smell mold, the ceiling on top of the bathroom was falling off in the sink and I’m pretty sure there was mold under my mattress. The shower was broken, it leaked everywhere in the room. We also got eaten by bedbugs and one of us had a terrible allergic reaction. The surprises did not end there because right after we found a dead scorpion. We lost 2 days washing our clothes. By the way it was the third time they had bedbugs in that room and they didn’t tell us.

Yellow stains on my mattress and pillow, dirty bedsheets on my bed when I arrived, bathroom was never clean, didn’t fill up the hand soap, toilets were often nasty, chocolate underneath my mattress, wifi didn’t work upstairs. I only stayed because I had to pay immediately. When we asked about the bed bugs other people were talking about, the response from the staff was very unprofessional and snippy and we felt like they weren’t honest. Only an easy to guess code to enter the building.

I got bed bugs when i stayed there. The showers were overflowing. The wifi and must of the plug outlets didn't work. Don't stay there.

Suggest avoiding due to pretty terrible experience. We (2 tall guys) found bugs in the bed curtains of our private room (2 beds) and were given a single bed with food stuck on the wall as alternative (we found out after walking across town at midnight to get there). Owner unwilling to compensate and told HostelWorld there were no bugs found. We had to return to hostel with luggage each day in case our room changed. Staff were really nice but the place smelled.

Alex was great but staff was hanging out very loudly in the courtyard (the girl cutting the tree was very loud and annoying) so napping after a long flight was out of the question. Shower floods. I got bitten by bed bugs there- (yes definitely those- i am a doc and have also traveled enough to know exactly what they look like- in a line of >3-4, extremely itchy). The mattresses are like a 100 years old. Palermo is filthy as it is, so at least the hostel should provide an oasis if they are going to charge european prices. I would not stay there again.
