some people were coming into our 4 beds room and taking a shower in our room or accessing our toilets
Vollständige Bewertung anzeigen
Vollständige BewertungThe first day I arrived, the door of the shower was off track and felt on me. No pressure in the water, only drops of water to shower. The smell was really bad. Also, some people were coming into our 4 beds room and taking a shower in our room or accessing our toilets. That felt unconfortable because everyone could come and go. It is truethe hostel street is very sketchy and two women have been robbed in front of the hostel. I have been in another hostel in Palermo that did not felt unsecure.

Yes, he took my stuff, including a VPN modem, and later hid it in reception like it was some kind of prank. Hilarious. Theft disguised as hospitality.

Vollständige BewertungIf you’re just passing through Palermo and need a place to crash for a night or two, this hostel might do the trick—emphasis on “might”. It’s clean, the rooms are calm, and people actually respect nighttime silence. So far so good, right? Well, buckle up. Let’s start with the basics: there are no toilet seats. That’s right—none. Because apparently, sitting is a luxury. Then there’s the common area, where breakfast is served… in near total darkness. Want to start your day by squinting into your cereal bowl, wondering if that’s almond milk or paint thinner? You’re in luck! Light switches are hidden in the rooms like some kind of low-budget escape room challenge. Bring a torch—and patience. The kitchen? Let’s call it the suggestion of a kitchen. One pan, a pot if you’re lucky, and zero functional equipment. Unless you’re planning on making toast by staring intently at bread until it toasts itself, forget cooking. And breakfast? Calling it that feels generous. It’s a sugar explosion: biscuits, bananas, yogurt, and a parade of milk alternatives. No coffee, no toast, no eggs. Just vibes and glucose spikes. Working remotely? Think again. The common area has exactly three sockets, so unless you’re early or aggressive, your laptop is dying a slow death. And speaking of working: I made the fatal error of stepping out for 20 minutes to buy actual food, and Marco—the owner—decided my equipment was up for grabs. Yes, he took my stuff, including a VPN modem, and later hid it in reception like it was some kind of prank. Hilarious. Theft disguised as hospitality. So, should you stay here? If you’re a backpacker on a quick layover, sure, you’ll survive. But if you’re planning to work remotely or enjoy more than 12 hours in Palermo, look elsewhere unless you’re into disappointment, darkness, and the thrill of having your belongings mysteriously disappear.

owner came into the dorm unannounced multiple times, including once around 11 pm, and starting moving our belongings around claiming “everything must be in your locker” we were NEVER told this.

Vollständige BewertungGood: nightly dinners, friendly staff, good location for getting around. Bad: owner came into the dorm unannounced multiple times, including once around 11 pm, and starting moving our belongings around claiming “everything must be in your locker” we were NEVER told this. That felt so off putting and honestly scary as a solo fem. My laundry came back to me with a cigarette in a pocket (I don’t smoke) and all smelled bad, I had to rewash at a laundromat. Bathrooms smelled moldy the whole time.

I stepped out for 20 mins and the owner took my gear—including a VPN modem—and hid it.

Vollständige BewertungClean and calm with respectful guests, but that’s where the positives end. No toilet seats, barely any kitchen gear, and breakfast is just sugary snacks—no coffee, eggs, or toast. One common area is dark even at breakfast, the other is open-air with only 3 sockets, making remote work tough. Worst part: I stepped out for 20 mins and the owner took my gear—including a VPN modem—and hid it. For a quick sleep, it’s fine. But for working or relaxing? Avoid. Hugely disappointing stay.

Vollständige BewertungThe staff very nice and welcoming when I first arrived, central location. Bathroom was not clean at all, although a cleaning lady comes everyday the shower screen and floor is coated in a layer of grime, there are black mould above the shower, the sink has no hand soap provided, there is a collection of old shampoos on the floor of the shower collecting dirt and grime too. The security is awful, multiple reviews report robberies/ intruders when sleeping and someone in my rooms lock was cut off!

Vollständige BewertungStaff were unfriendly bar one who made us feel welcome, cleaner came into our room unannounced in pyjamas rudely cleaning over us and grunted at us when we smiled upon leaving. We did not feel safe staying here as two 19year old females. Bathroom was dirty with multiple used towels on the floor and peoples bottles everywhere, as well as mould and walls with paint cracked off. Was a very unprofessional place, felt like we were in someone’s home.Room was nice enough with curtains but had no pillow

Vollständige BewertungI am posting this here as the full comment did not appear on Hostelworld when I left a review. As someone who has solo-travelled a lot and stayed in many hostels before, I can confidently say that this was by far the WORST place I’ve ever stayed. It was mouldy and dirty, smelly and run down (shower door falling off when closing) but that was really not the main issue. The main issue was the owner. I got very strange and slimy vibes from him from the very first interaction and then things just worsened as my stay progressed. First off, it is impossible to enter or exit the hostel without having an interaction with him, usually, he’s just making irrelevant comments but sometimes they were also very intrusive (for example, he asked me why my ‘date’ had not walked me home when I came back late at night once. I was not even on a date…). He would also ask me why I was coming from the direction I was coming back from too. Just so strange. The final straw for me was when I was trying to have a nap in my bunk, with the curtain closed. He entered the room, OPENED my curtain and seriously gave me a fright. When I checked out I asked if I could talk to him about this and told him it was inappropriate, creepy and uncomfortable. I was not expecting such a strong reaction from him, he got very defensive, told me that I was making a big deal out of nothing, that I needed to ‘check in with myself’ (professional gaslighter) and when I told him that I was expecting an apology, he said ‘I really don’t see what I would have to apologise for’. He explained that he was just checking if everything was ok in the room and that he was switching off lights (mine was off when I was napping). He told me I should not stay in a hostel if what I am looking for is privacy, but this is the exact point, the curtain is the only form of privacy you have so it should definitely not be opened without consent from the client. The rest of the staff was quite nice but I sensed that they also were not super happy to be working for this guy. I have never seen a business owner in his forties with such a terrible attitude. I recommend you stay at Exclusive Independance where I stayed for two nights. The staff was helpful, respectful and kind and the facilities were pristine. Just avoid this place, the area is very sketchy too, the owner told me and two other guests that someone got robbed at knifepoint in front of the hostel once (not sure why he was sharing this… interesting advertising for your business. clearly, his guests’ safety and comfort is not a priority.)

there had been a break in the night before we had arrived yet the door code preventing people getting in remained the same

Vollständige BewertungThe staff were lovely and you can see so much effort has gone into the hostel however we didn’t feel overly safe as you aren’t given keys to the dorms (ability to lock them) and there had been a break in the night before we had arrived yet the door code preventing people getting in remained the same. Additionally reading back the reviews of bed bugs and multiple breakins left me questioning the hostel a little. But overall the hostel itself and staff were great

I and other travellers were robbed.

Vollständige BewertungDO NOT STAY IF SOLO FEMALE. I got awful bed bugs, after being assured by the staff that there weren’t any, and the hostel was broken into during my stay, and I and other travellers were robbed. If I could give a 1 on location and safety I would. This is the worst hostel I’ve stayed at in my entire life. The hostel is located in a really unsafe area of town, not only was I followed back to the hostel one night, but the hostel also has awful security. Bathrooms also stink of damp and mould.

I stayed for a week and saw two people being robbed in the hostel (cell phone and MacBook from Apple) and they tried to rob me on the last day.

Vollständige BewertungI don't recommend it to anyone, very easy access to the rooms, there are no padlocks on the lockes and where you put the padlock is very easy to break, there is only an old password on the main door that thieves have access to in order to steal. The street that leads to the hostel is also very dangerous for theft. I stayed for a week and saw two people being robbed in the hostel (cell phone and MacBook from Apple) and they tried to rob me on the last day. I advise you not to go to this place.

Vollständige BewertungCan't recommend staying there. I left and didn't stay for an hour (booked for 4 nights). There were big spots of mold, very old facility, a smell in the dorm, dead mosquitos on the wall, living spiders in the room. I got my money back, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Too bad the owner isn't interested in a renovation. I got locked in the bathroom, too, while I was there, because the door was old. After a couple minutes I got out and left.
