   • owner came into the dorm unannounced multiple times, including once around 11 pm, and starting moving our belongings around claiming “everything must be in your locker” we were NEVER told this.

   Good: nightly dinners, friendly staff, good location for getting around. Bad: owner came into the dorm unannounced multiple times, including once around 11 pm, and starting moving our belongings around claiming “everything must be in your locker” we were NEVER told this. That felt so off putting and honestly scary as a solo fem. My laundry came back to me with a cigarette in a pocket (I don’t smoke) and all smelled bad, I had to rewash at a laundromat. Bathrooms smelled moldy the whole time.

   This hostel was nice and you can see they are trying to make it a lovely place however during my stay -wifi never worked regardless of which network -my second day water wasn’t working for many hours so couldn’t shower -in my dorm the balcony door was open so mosquitos came in and it was very cold -owner (older guy) kept walking into the dorm without knocking

   The staff very nice and welcoming when I first arrived, central location. Bathroom was not clean at all, although a cleaning lady comes everyday the shower screen and floor is coated in a layer of grime, there are black mould above the shower, the sink has no hand soap provided, there is a collection of old shampoos on the floor of the shower collecting dirt and grime too. The security is awful, multiple reviews report robberies/ intruders when sleeping and someone in my rooms lock was cut off!

   Staff were unfriendly bar one who made us feel welcome, cleaner came into our room unannounced in pyjamas rudely cleaning over us and grunted at us when we smiled upon leaving. We did not feel safe staying here as two 19year old females. Bathroom was dirty with multiple used towels on the floor and peoples bottles everywhere, as well as mould and walls with paint cracked off. Was a very unprofessional place, felt like we were in someone’s home.Room was nice enough with curtains but had no pillow

   I am posting this here as the full comment did not appear on Hostelworld when I left a review. As someone who has solo-travelled a lot and stayed in many hostels before, I can confidently say that this was by far the WORST place I’ve ever stayed. It was mouldy and dirty, smelly and run down (shower door falling off when closing) but that was really not the main issue. The main issue was the owner. I got very strange and slimy vibes from him from the very first interaction and then things just worsened as my stay progressed. First off, it is impossible to enter or exit the hostel without having an interaction with him, usually, he’s just making irrelevant comments but sometimes they were also very intrusive (for example, he asked me why my ‘date’ had not walked me home when I came back late at night once. I was not even on a date…). He would also ask me why I was coming from the direction I was coming back from too. Just so strange. The final straw for me was when I was trying to have a nap in my bunk, with the curtain closed. He entered the room, OPENED my curtain and seriously gave me a fright. When I checked out I asked if I could talk to him about this and told him it was inappropriate, creepy and uncomfortable. I was not expecting such a strong reaction from him, he got very defensive, told me that I was making a big deal out of nothing, that I needed to ‘check in with myself’ (professional gaslighter) and when I told him that I was expecting an apology, he said ‘I really don’t see what I would have to apologise for’. He explained that he was just checking if everything was ok in the room and that he was switching off lights (mine was off when I was napping). He told me I should not stay in a hostel if what I am looking for is privacy, but this is the exact point, the curtain is the only form of privacy you have so it should definitely not be opened without consent from the client. The rest of the staff was quite nice but I sensed that they also were not super happy to be working for this guy. I have never seen a business owner in his forties with such a terrible attitude. I recommend you stay at Exclusive Independance where I stayed for two nights. The staff was helpful, respectful and kind and the facilities were pristine. Just avoid this place, the area is very sketchy too, the owner told me and two other guests that someone got robbed at knifepoint in front of the hostel once (not sure why he was sharing this… interesting advertising for your business. clearly, his guests’ safety and comfort is not a priority.)

   A FUIR !!!! Je ne recommande pas cet hostel. Malgré le fait que l’hostel se trouve dans le centre, n’allez pas dans cet hostel !! J’étais censée rester deux nuits dans cet hostel mais nous nous sommes fait cambrioler dans la nuit. Un outsider est rentré dans notre chambre et a tout volé. Il a détruit mon casier et a tenté de me voler mes affaires. Il a ouvert tous les rideaux des lits pour nous voler pendant notre sommeil. Nous avons du appeler la police et le personnel n’était pas joignable.

   Can't recommend staying there. I left and didn't stay for an hour (booked for 4 nights). There were big spots of mold, very old facility, a smell in the dorm, dead mosquitos on the wall, living spiders in the room. I got my money back, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Too bad the owner isn't interested in a renovation. I got locked in the bathroom, too, while I was there, because the door was old. After a couple minutes I got out and left.

   • the lock on the front of the hostel was broken so anyone could walk into the hostel and there were no locks on any of the dorms so they could easily enter our dorms.

   I would not come back to this hostel. Very dirty, the kitchen was unusable, the bathrooms would always be dirty, the cleaner/cleaners did not do a very good job. The hostel isn’t in the best location, I was walking home at night and was almost robbed, also whilst I was there the lock on the front of the hostel was broken so anyone could walk into the hostel and there were no locks on any of the dorms so they could easily enter our dorms. Someone broke in two nights in a row and the owner didn’t feel the need to replace the lock. Not a good experience, I’d stay anywhere else. But it is very cheap so that’s a plus.
