Building is lovely, unfortunately the hostel is run horrendously. Terrible service from rude staff unwilling to do their job.
De kamer was warm, erg vies en stonk. Het was tot laat luidruchtig en er waren geen ramen naar buiten. De raam naar de gemeenschappelijke hal moest dus open, maar dat zorgde voor veel geluid binnen. Het ontbijt was top en de man is erg aardig. Maar verder is het geen prettig hostel. Doe wat aan de hygiëne, geluid en warmte
The room was warm, very dirty and smelly. It was noisy until late and there were no windows to the outside. So the window to the common hall had to be open, but that caused a lot of noise inside. The breakfast was top notch and the man is very nice. But other than that it's not a nice hostel. Do something about the hygiene, sound and warmth.
This hostel had a really bad Israeli infestation. Would you host Hitler in 1945? No, you wouldn't. So, why did you host them?
The staff was really unfriendly, didn’t get any informations & if I asked I got an annoyed answer. The bathroom was not clean - everywhere hair & dirt. The room was ok - but check in at 5am & turned the lights on ignoring everyone who was sleeping. The breakfast was okay.
The owner got drunk and kicked me out of the hostel once I got back from the mine tour, loudly swearing and childishly proclaiming “You are not my friend!” and “I’m a millionaire, I don’t need your money!”. Do you know why? Because he asked me to buy some bread in the morning but I said no because I was running late for the mine tour. That’s the owner of the hostel, ladies and gentlemen. As another person wrote - he is sleeping on his laurels, and I hope karma will get him eventual...
This place was disgusting. I left right after checking in and being shown my dorm. The place is filthy. Smells like dirty laundry and piss. The 8 room dorm was crammed and the old foam mattresses were filthy and stained. The furniture throughout was equally gross and covered in cat hair. Found a private room for the same price down the road.
Wir hatten vorher Bescheid gesagt das wir so ca. um halb eins nachts ankommen. Leider wurde uns erst am Nachmittag davor mitgeteilt dass man nur bis 22 Zhr einchecken kann. Obwohl auf Hostelworld eine 24/7 Rezeption vermarktet wird. Absolut schlechter Kundenservice! Wir mussten uns um 8 Uhr abends ein neues Hotel suchen da uns alternativslos abgesagt wurde, dass auch erst sehr spät so das wir den Aufenthalt nicht mehr fristgerecht stornieren konnten und mussten damit unseren Aufenthalt bezahlen...
We had been told in advance that we would arrive at about midnight. unfortunately we were only informed in the afternoon that you can only check in until 10pm. although Hostelworld is marketing a 24/7 Reception. Absolutely worse customer service! we had to look for a new hotel at 8pm and were canceled with no alternative, that too very late so we could no longer cancel the stay within the deadline and had to use it to pay for our stay.
The bathroom was very dirty and wasn't cleaned in 48 h. Breakfast was good. Accordingly to our booking via the website we hat to pay 16,47 Euro (124 Bolivianos under official rate). When we paid for the stay, the owner demanded 133 Bolivianos 'due to the conversion rate of the hostel'. First we thought it would be a mistake, but others in the hostel told us, that they too paid 5-10% on top. We were very disappointed, not because of 10 Bolivianos, but because we felt tricked.
Worst staying in my life. Dog was staying in our room. After it left we stay there. Everything are dirty.
One of the worst hostels we have ever stayed in. Do not recommend. The lock to our room broke and we couldn’t get back into our room. We asked a member of staff to help. She was extremely unhelpful - when she couldn’t open it she just continued to clean. We were locked out for over an hour. We finally got it open but couldn’t lock it again and was told someone would be back in 10 minutes to fix it. No one appeared after another hour so we asked again and were then told to go to reception a...

Best hostel breakfast I’ve ever had!!! This alone is worth the stay. Private room was nice and comfortable. Only thing was there wasn’t soap in the bathroom. Good location easy to walk around
In three months in South America, even if just for one night, this was by far my favorite hostel. The staff was super friendly and engaging, the atmosphere very relaxing, and the breakfast amazing!

Awesome breakfast. I mean it. It's gorgeous. The staff is so warm and loving. The guy that serves the breakfast? amazing, he deserves a hug. They give you towels and toilet paper. Beds are comfy. They have an option for the mines tour which I took, and it was incredible. 100% recommended.
The good: breakfast is great!! best juice I've had so far in my 3 months of travel. The not so good: the hostel is not social at all. The bad!!: bathrooms are very dirty.
A perfect hostel to socialize and to enjoy all the amenities. Playing Table tennis together or watch some movies. The breakfast was amazing and served on a big table to eat together.
Good stay, great location. Keys were giant and annoying to carry and couldn’t ever find anyone at reception to leave key Should be a rule for no ping pong before 9am, it’s very loud in all rooms early morning
Incredibly kind hosts and an excellent breakfast — probably the best I’ve ever had in a hostel. The mining tour you can book here is also outstanding. In addition, there’s a TV room with over 200 DVDs, games, and more than 100 travel guides available for guests to use.

One of the best breakfasts you will have at a hostel. The host is super super friendly, great location from the main square and the rooms/showers are great. Can’t recommend enough!
The friendliest staff compared to every other hostel I’ve stayed at. Very relaxed and calm. Great location with everything such a shirt walk away. Breakfast in the morning is very nice. Pool table, and tea available all the time is great. Lots of social areas across the building. I highly recommend if you are in Puno. I am now back for my second time

I'm very happy with the breakfast, the staff is very friendly, I just regret the lack of curtains for the bedrooms and electrical outlet next to the beds.

Enjoyed my 2 nights at Koala. The staff are super friendly and the breakfast is amazing! They also orgaorganised the mine tour which was an eye opening experience. The beds are comfy but the bunk beds dont have a lot of headroom so be careful not to bump your head
Great breakfast at a hostel with a cool layout. Although climbing four flights of stairs can take it out of you with the altitude. Only complaints is that anyone could walk into the shared rooms, the front door was unlocked with an unmanned reception for hours, and the lockers were very small. Plus, when leaving we were given unhelpful advice on where to find a taxi.
The hostel is generally ok, rooms are fine but we got a bathroom that wasn’t cleaned before we occupied the room. Common spaces are not very cosy. Location is very good, super close to the city centre. Breakfast is amazing and abundant, including fresh pancakes!
Came for the mines, stayed for the breakfast. Amazing host and great mine tour organized through the hostel. Would definitely stay again!
