Vivian's Guest House
Bed bug reports

Confirmed Booking.com
I noticed very small brownish spots at the mattress corners, I decided to look around the mattress and the bed to check in more details if there were bedbugs as I think that could have been their excretions. Didn't find anything, so I thought maybe the sheet just had stains. But a day after leaving, I started to feel itchy in some spots on my back, then saw small red spots very close to each other, so very likely I have been bitting and I am 80% confident this was bedbugs from this hostel.

Vibe Analysis
The rooftop terrace gives Vivian's Guest House its clearest hook: a calm upstairs spot in a pretty, spacious Jerez house, with elevator access in the building. It is the kind of place that can feel more like a large shared home than a tight hostel, with common lounges, a dining area, and room to move around. The location is strong for doing Jerez on foot, close to the historic center, bars, restaurants, shops, and the train or bus station. Cleanliness, comfortable beds, hot showers, towels, good Wi-Fi, and a useful kitchen show up as real strengths, and Vivian herself can be warm, responsive, and helpful when contact works well. This is not a classic staffed, social-party hostel. The setup leans digital, with online check-in, access codes, key boxes, and limited on-site presence. That can be smooth and secure for independent travelers, but it can feel cold or awkward if anything goes wrong, especially late at night. The atmosphere seems mixed: there are good common areas and occasional social energy, but also quiet, sparse, or older-traveler moments. It works best as a central, affordable Jerez base with a beautiful terrace and practical facilities, not as a guaranteed scene machine.
Signals to check
- Self-check-in and access codes are central to the stay, and staff may not be on site for much of the day or night.
- Noise can be a problem: thin walls, door slams, lockers, hallway traffic, AC machinery, shutters, and late-night behavior have all caused bad sleep.
- There have been serious security complaints about stolen food and cash, with limited practical help on site.
- Some dorm beds may not have privacy curtains, and lockers may need specific padlock sizes.
- Bathroom smells, humidity, strong cleaning scents, worn terrace furniture, limited kitchen utensils, and maintenance issues may affect certain rooms or areas.
