Mariastein Youth Hostel is inside a small castle on a hill, so the main event is literal castle sleepover energy with modern bathrooms and dorms folded into old stone surroundings. The setting feels unusual, calm, and a bit magical, with wide views and a courtyard that can add a lot when the weather behaves. Families get real practical wins here: the family room has bunk beds that can be a hit with kids, plus toys, games, and books for different ages. The place also seems clean and warm, with comfortable wooden rooms and tidy showers and toilets. Breakfast is a strong part of the rhythm, ranging from simple-but-fair to very good and generous.
