We got bitten by bed bugs and left the property. The property did not acknowledge the fact, made us doubt it and explained that these were for sure mosquitoes. We gave them the benefit of doubt and stayed one night longer, to wake up completely covered with bites. Horrible experience for the rest out our vacation. No one from the hotel acknowledged this or asked us anything upon our departure even though we did report it. They only acknowledged this after reporting this to booking and claimed that they will disinfect the room. Yet no question about our health whatsoever…

Vibe Analysis
Torre al Sur works best as a calm Ushuaia base, not a wild backpacker machine. The useful pattern is location, clean sleep, and helpful staff: it is close to the main street, boats, buses, restaurants, and a corner market, with a simple breakfast and a small kitchen/common area for low-key hanging out. The newer stays are much warmer than the rough late-2025 patch. Milco and the team get called out for local advice, tour help, safety-minded hike tips, and generally kind treatment; several stays describe the place as quiet, comfortable, and clean. There is some social life if the right people are in, but the vibe is more "recover from Patagonia weather" than "make chaos until 3." The tradeoffs are practical. It sits just uphill from the centre, some rooms and beds are tight, breakfast is basic, and check-in can require WhatsApp-level coordination because staff are not always physically around. If you want an easy central sleep with friendly humans and you can pack light, this is a solid fit.
