Very disappointing. Lack of privacy due to open walls and no ceiling. Noise from the other inhabitants plus a noisy highway next to it made it very difficult to find any peace or quiet. Suspected bedbug infestation and absence of mosquito nets made it impossible to sleep. Lack of cleanliness. Extreme heat with inadequate fan functionality... You shouldn't charge people this price for what the place really is. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone seeking a comfortable and peaceful stay.

Vibe Analysis

Hammock Plantation is a low-key Palmarcito beach base a few minutes from the sand, with hammocks doing exactly what the name promises. It works best as a quiet reset spot between El Tunco and El Zonte: beach walks, pool dips, cooking in the shared kitchen, morning coffee, and a lot of lying around under palms. The standout here is the hammock-heavy outdoor setup. There are shaded places to read, nap, play a board game, or just disappear from the tourist churn for a while, plus a pool and a garden feel with cats around. Beds can be genuinely comfortable, with individual fans, lights, plugs, shelf space, and lockers in some dorms. The family-run side can be warm and helpful, especially for bus tips, shuttles, beach ideas, and local food. Nearby basics include pupusas, pizza, small shops, fruit and veg trucks, and a quieter local beach; bigger nightlife and more choice need a bus or Uber.
