We came to this place with high expectations due to the amazing reviews it has, but after spending only about 15 minutes in our room we immediately got out and I don’t regret it at all. Note that the good reviews this place has mostly refer to their hostel rooms, which are probably a different experience, but for private rooms, you can find MUCH better things for a lesser or equal price. The room had a terrible bathroom which was extremely small and unclean, and the bed had bedbugs. I would recommend you look at other hotels around the area before booking, you can certainly find something better than the experience this place provides.

Vibe Analysis
The rooftop is the main event at Bunkyard Udaipur: a high, open perch for lake views, sunrise, sunset, beers, food, live sports, and easy rooftop conversations. It gives the hostel most of its personality, especially for solo travelers who want a social place that can still feel calm. Vaibhav, also called Vibes, is a big part of the stay here. The hosting leans personal: city tips, transport help, itinerary advice, WhatsApp support, help with awkward arrival problems, and a habit of pulling people together without making the place feel chaotic. Tarun, Ashish, and the wider team also add to that warm, hands-on feel. Rooms are generally simple, clean, and comfortable, with private rooms landing better than the tighter dorms. Dorm bunks may have curtains, plugs, lights, fans, and decent storage, though not every dorm setup feels roomy or perfectly maintained. The location works well for old-city wandering, with City Palace, ghats, lakes, and main sights within walking distance, but the hostel sits up a steep approach and the building has lots of stairs. Food can be good, coffee and breakfast can work nicely, and the rooftop cafe can turn into the natural hangout zone. Service and facilities are not perfectly consistent, though: AC timing, fan issues, slow cafe service, closed kitchen or restaurant periods, breakfast confusion, and cleanliness misses can turn a smooth stay into a frustrating one.
Signals to check
- The hostel is vertical, with a steep approach and no lift, so heavy luggage or mobility limits can be a pain.
- AC may run on fixed hours and may not feel strong enough in dorms.
- The rooftop cafe, kitchen, restaurant, and breakfast setup may not always match expectations or listed inclusions.
- Dorms can feel cramped, especially larger shared rooms, and fan, locker, door, or bed-size issues may pop up.
- Cleanliness and service can swing from excellent to sloppy, so this is not the safest pick for travelers who need hotel-level consistency.
