We stayed here in family room 2 nights last week unfortunately we had bed bug bites and also all utensils in the room was not in usable condition the non stick on them has come off and chipped cups n bowls. Not a pleasant stay. Could have keep it lot cleaner for the room charges. Highly disappointed 😞 the bed bug in quilts n bite us through out nights.

Ivory Towers Backpacker Lodge is a Fox Glacier base with a lot of practical gear for the price: a huge kitchen, roomy lounges, usually solid bathrooms, and easy access to town, walks, heli offices, Lake Matheson, and glow-worm trails. It can feel quiet rather than party-forward, more recharge station than chaos lab. Free bikes are the standout trick here. They make short missions toward the glacier, Lake Matheson, and nearby lookouts easier without turning every outing into a car puzzle. The free spa pool, sauna, and small stretching or exercise room give the lodge more recovery hardware than a basic backpacker stop. There are also homely bits: couches, balconies or covered terraces in parts of the property, occasional rainforest views, 90s motivational posters, rabbits on site, and a friendly office dog. Rooms range from comfy and clean to worn, damp, or thin-walled, so this is better for flexible budget travelers than anyone needing polished consistency.
