I got bed bugs from one of their rooms … very mad about that because it’s such a struggle to get rid of them. None of the bungalows are the same so you can pay the same price as someone and have a room that’s not ad nice as theirs which is a shame. Overall the atmosphere is chill and can be social (not that much in low season). A part of the staff is really nice and plays live music in the evening which was my favorite part !

Vibe Analysis
Live music around the bonfire is a regular part of Sama Sama, with guitar nights, Saturday band energy, and a bar/common area that makes it easy to meet people without forcing it. The staff-run atmosphere is warm, playful, and personal, especially for solo travelers who want a social base in Tetebatu. The setting does a lot of heavy lifting: bungalows sit among jungle, rice fields, river sounds, mountain air, and big views, with a pool, hammocks, dining space, and multiple chill areas spread around the property. Rooms are simple rather than polished, but the place works well if the goal is nature, music, food, tours, and a slower few days. Food is a real plus here, from banana pancakes at breakfast to curry, buffet nights, and easy meals on site. Activities can include rice-field walks, waterfall trips, monkey forest visits, local stick fighting, scooter outings, and Rinjani or island transport arrangements. The best version of Sama Sama is social, rustic, scenic, and a little chaotic in a very Tetebatu way.
