This hostel was amazing. Looks like a dream house. Great staff and location. Lots of activities to do. Very clean BUT they had bed bugs. And unfortunately had to give them a 0 in cleanliness and leave the hostel immediately. The staff offered another room but I couldn’t trust this place anymore. A real shame.

Vibe Analysis
Viajero Lima-Barranco is a gorgeous old Barranco house with the volume turned up. The location is the main cheat code: close to Barranco restaurants, bars, markets, the Bridge of Sighs area, and an easy base for that Lima south-side wander. The building itself gets a lot of love too, with big old-house character, photogenic common areas, a bar, tours, and enough activity that it can feel like a social headquarters rather than just beds upstairs. This works best if your Lima plan includes going out, meeting people quickly, and not treating bedtime like sacred law. The bar and events can create a real party lane, and the place sometimes pulls in locals as well as travelers, so the social life can feel bigger than the hostel bubble. Beds with curtains or pods, friendly staff moments, hot showers in some rooms, and helpful tour or activity energy are part of the upside. The tradeoff is not subtle. Noise from the bar, terrace, street, wooden floors, lockers, and late-night traffic can run deep into the night. Several dorms and private rooms come off as hot, dark, basement-ish, damp, or poorly ventilated, and the lack of a proper guest kitchen plus paid basics like water, towels, or breakfast can annoy budget travelers fast. Book this as a beautiful Barranco party base with caveats, not a quiet comfort-first recovery station.
