AROMA Ha Long Hotel

My partner and I stayed at Aroma Hotel Halong and had a truly awful experience. Upon arrival, I found a dead cockroach in the bathroom, and worse, BED BUGS in the bed. I contacted the property, and to his credit, the owner came up to the room right away, and offered to change the sheets — which I refused, as the bed was clearly unsanitary. We were moved to a second room at around 10pm, which was much smaller, had NO WINDOWS, the mattress was so old I could feel the springs, and the AC was loud, making it very hard to sleep. The next morning the owner apologised and claimed that this second, worse room was our original booking and that the bug-infested room had been an "upgrade" — which was simply not true. We only stayed the night because we had an early morning tour booked. This hotel does not meet basic hygiene or safety standards and was completely misrepresented in the listing. I strongly do not recommend staying here, even for one night.
