Luz Hotel

La propreté laisse vraiment à désirer.. nous avons trouver un cavadre de punaise de lit sous le matelas et un cafard autour du lavabo. Les sanitaires communs n'étaient pas très propres non plus... une odeur désagréable présente dans les parties communes.. Aussi, bien que le quartier soit central, l'hôtel est également très proche de Tenderloin qui peut être assez effrayant si on ne s'y est pas préparé. Nous avions un petit budget et savions plus ou moins à quoi nous attendre, il ne faut pas espérer beaucoup.

We (two young girls) arrived this evening and were thoroughly disappointed at the hotel. To start off the area around the hotel was quite dangerous, there were drug deals and drunk people smashing bottles and people sleeping on the sidewalk. The parking was off site and was also quite sketchy. The pictures of the hotel were not a clear representation of what the hotel actually was. The hotel looked like a brothel and as two young girls we felt very unsafe. I wouldn't recommend this hotel anyone. The hotel had an immediate smell of urine and cigarettes upon entry. I cannot reinforce enough that the hotel was in a very dangerous end of SanFran and drug deals were happening close by. We also noticed bedbugs without even opening the bed. We actually left within 30 minutes due to feeling very unsafe. The staff at the hotel were also not friendly or helpful.

I stayed at Luz for four nights and didn't have any problems really. The rooms are a bit small but decent for the price and location. There are two bathrooms that are shared by all the rented rooms on the first floor; they were clean and I didn't have a problem getting one when I needed. The shower was different; there is only one for all the guests and I had to wait my turn a few times. Note: give the shower 4-5 minutes to warm up and then it's nice. I was in room three, which is near the front, and you can hear the voices from street. Ask for a room closer to back if possible. Also the bed dips in the middle so that was a bit uncomfortable. I can't attest to another traveler's comments about bed bugs because I brought my own sheet and slept on top of the duvet. I will say that nothing seemed wrong with my stay. The staff were super friendly and helpful. If you're traveling from/to the airport, the hotel can call a shuttle for $17, much cheaper than a taxi.
