Got bed bugs bite all over my body after the stay.

Bedbugs!!!

There were bed bugs (chinches), we saw them until the next morning because we did arrive late at night and tired. We took pictures. But the next morning I woke up all bitten from the bed bugs. I have more than 20 Raised red bumps.

Had a really poor two night stay here. We had a private room, which was not well ventilated and stuffy. It was really difficult to sleep in the night cus it was so hot. The room didn’t feel clean and there were stains on my duvet. Also- the receptionists (2 out of the 3 we experienced) weren’t warm or super helpful. On the first night, we went downstairs and asked if they knew where we could find an adapter, and the lady was absent minded and semi laughed at the question and just said ‘no’. The next day, we saw that they had vending machines at the hostel with it - so she could have just pointed us in this direction? Also, after 10pm, you’re supposed to press a buzzer to be let in as it is ‘quiet hours’. I pressed 3 times and could see the receptionist in there , but he didn’t come to let me in until I had to literally go round and physically knock on the window (this was in the dark at 3am). Also me and my friend have woken up with bite marks on us and itchiness which very closely resemble bed bug bites. The worst part of it though is this morning, someone just entered our room at 9am whilst we were still in bed. I have no idea if this was staff, or if it was a different guest and they had general room key access ? But it felt so unsafe and weird for someone to be able to do that. And then - even though we were told that check out was at 11am (which we confirmed with the receptionist), at 10:20am, someone knocked on and before waiting for a response ENTERED our room again and then just said ‘are you guys leaving?’ What on earth?! Never in my life have I had that. We still had 30 minutes before we had to check out. And no apology either from the person that came in. Absolutely bizarre. Did not feel super safe here at all and in all my years of travelling I have never experienced this. Do not recommend. One good thing was that the receptionist that we informed today as we were checking out about this was lovely so I don’t want this to be a reflection on her.

The kitchen is really too small and poorly equipped for self-catering, unless it is pot-noodle type food, one fridge between the entire hostel. Microwave was broken, but no sign to indicate this. Also, my son has ended up covered in bed bug bites.

Nice clean hostel but the area and location is not my favorite! But it's definitely better than downtown copenhagen hotels they had bedbugs and I had bites all over my arms and legs after only night I was there and didn't want to compensate or anything! So although this A&O isn't the best location, it's more quite if you're looking to be away from city hall square! But I'd rather find something closer to city hall square it's much closer to everything!

Its an AO hostel, so knowing their quality my expectations were low. Long check in que, lockers were cages with too large gaps, so everything in your bag can be stolen if someone wants to do so. But these lockers need a bigger than average lock to be even locked. Bc bed linen costs 3,5e extra, some people sleep without them. That results into yellow stains on pillows/blankets + bed bug risk 🙃 Stay away from AO if possible
