Combo Venezia

Room cleanliness was subpar as the room had bed bugs. I've left the hotel covered in bed bug bites! General cleanliness of the surrounding area was good.

Got bed bug bites all over legs and arm from bed. :(

This hostel is really beautiful, it feels more like an hotel than a hostel. The rooms were really clean and bathrooms as well. But what makes me put I lower score is the high price and also that we found BEDBUGS. One bug was crawling on my blanket whilst I was in the bed. It caused panic in the room and my friend and I started to flipp the beds. There was one more under the mattress and this one was dead. When we told the staff about it they didn't really react like this was common.

I had high expectations of Combo Venice after reading so many positive reviews. However, my experience is nightmare. [My review mostly applies to people who are used to stay in hotels or Airbnb but want a different experience] Pros: relatively spacious room, nice inner garden (always crowded) Cons: MANY. 1)Remember, this is after all, a HOSTEL. We booked a double room, price is considered average if not expensive for what we have received. There are no amenities, meaning no kettle to boil your water, fridge is given without anything inside, no phone call to contact the front desk and definitely no facilities. 2)Worse, the mattress we slept on gave us itchiness and bites the next morning. I have read other reviews and some people also mentioned they had the same problem: they felt ITCHY after sleeping, so I am not alone. I suspect they are BEDBUGS. I talked to the front desk and they were very unfriendly and asked for hospital proof from us. Ridiculous. Unfortunately there were no other room in the same category for us to change, so they gave us a lower category room which was around 30euros cheaper that what we had paid. We were changed to a Twin Superior Room, the layout was unique and the room is big. 3) The rooms are NOT sound proof, you can hear everything! Every time someone opens and closes a door, I can hear it very loudly. I can hear footsteps, music playing outside and people mumbling on the phone :) 4) Staff are very unfriendly (as mentioned in many other reviews written by people). 5) The location is not as convenient as you think it is. Though it is situated next to a water bus station, it is only convenient if you are going to the airport or Murano/Burano. Otherwise you have to walk on average 20 minutes to all the other sites. It is definitely a great place for solo bugdet-minded travelers and with a group of friends. But if you are a couple or you want to stay here because after reading so many reviews thinking that it is a unique place, STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE.
