Bed bugs, dirty shower, no hand soap, very unenthusiastic staff

Left with more than 60 bug bites, don’t know if it is mosquitos or bedbugs. The sink in our bathroom was clogged and when we asked for it fixed it never happened. Great location but not worth it.

Honestly I don't understand all the negative reviews! I've been staying in hostels for over 30 years & this one was just fine. I get the feeling people nowadays expect luxury w/out paying luxurious prices. I didn't have bedbugs, I didn't have creepy people in my room or random people coming in & out to use the shower like some people mentioned. As for mosquitos & it being hot in the rooms, it's to be expected in Venice in the warmer months. But the location is FANTASTIC, best price you'll find!

Bed bugs 100%, facilities aren’t the cleanest. You get what you pay for!

I arrived got my bed assignment and locker. One thing they do is you have to leave your key at the front door every time you leave. Well I came back twice and both times they gave me the wrong key my stuff could have easily been stolen from my locker. Second, once I got back to settle in for the night my bed was already slept in all messed up, no clean bedding. Look closer look at my bed I could see bed bugs in the mattress and mosquitoes all over the roof. Took my stuff to a hotel for the night

Reviews were awful so I expected it to be bad. After staying in 40 hostels around the world I did have issues with the place. Amazing location, great chargers & pillows & AC. Shower was clean but broken. Reviews said the sheets were going to be dirty but they fixed this because all of the sheets were washed & clean. But I dont know if it was the mosquitoes flying into the room or the bed bugs in the duvet cover & mattress, but I have more that 60 bug bites after just 3 nights. Bring Bug Spray.

AVOID!!! The only positive thing I have to say about this hostel is that there were no bed bugs, genuinely horrific, it's so strange, creepy staff, nothing in the kitchen (oven is just decoration, it doesn't work). No one talks to each other here, only 2 bathrooms for 20 people and mould so thick you can barely open the door. You can lock your bag in a locker but any time you leave you have to hand your locker key in (?). The location is nice but this hostel ruined Venice for us. AVOID!!!!

Fairly sure there are bed bugs, woke up the next morning with bites all over the side that I had slept on and they were super itchy for the rest of the trip.

Before I say anything : we are young,, we are USED TO sleep in these kind of places, we often go for the cheap and easy options, we know how travelling on a low budget looks like. - Fill in the online check in or they CHARGE YOU 3 EUROS PER PERSON to fill in a few informations which takes them about 2min tops - 3 bathrooms/toilet for about 20 people, and which do not seem very clean - No handsoap to wash your hands after toilet - No curtains for privacy in the dorm (not a big deal, but still...) - Receptionist are not nice at all, very cold and not welcoming - You pay extra for every little thing (soap ? Extra. Towels ? Extra. Etc...) - The mattresses look really dirty (no bed bugs but very dirty) - They give you sheets to make your own bed that are almost too small - Not enough warm covers for everyone in the dorm (or we didn't find them all ??) - Big mold odour in the bathrooms (and visible mold around the showers) - No floor towel for when you get out of the shower (so the bathrooms/toilet floors are constantly wet) - Probably forgetting things... but you get it Honestly, if you have other options, go somewhere else even if it means spending a few euros more ! In retrospect, if you want a tip : the best thing for us would have been to sleep in Murano for cheaper and take the boat to spend the day in Venise... but if we knew we wouldn't have stayed in this place

*Possible bed bugs as of April 2025* Woke up with seven bites on my back/arm after sleeping here for a night. Didn’t see any bed bugs physically in the sheets, but the bites look like they are from them (red welts, extremely itchy, clustered together). Otherwise is a good hostel. Bed was comfortable, and the lockers are quite spacious. No curtains on the beds, so noise and lights will most likely wake you up. Great location to see many spots in Venice. Only two bathrooms for several beds.

I booked the hostel, saw the reviews, and got scared. I don’t know what other people were expecting, it was very nice. They provided more than many hostels do; big locker, towel, body wash, soap. The bed is already made for you when you come in. The mattresses were clean and definitely free of bedbugs. The room and bathroom is cleaned everyday and it’s a great location. It’s safe and there are some shared spaces on every floor. I didn’t have to do the check-in before arriving. 👍

The hostel is really dirty, dead mosquitoes are on the walls, the beds are dirty. The people working there were really rude. No soap, no towels in the bathroom. Really noisy at night. A kind of unease I felt wouldn't exist probably if they cleaned the place normally or if the people working there were even a little nice. I was afraid of finding bed bugs, because I saw many comments about them. Thankfully this wasn't my experience. Insane policy of giving to them your key when leaving the room, meaning your things are available to them anytime (even theoretically, it's too much). Also insane policy of giving 5 euros to leave your luggage there!!!! I would never recommend this place, even though it's quite cheap, I think it's better to stay in a place, even a hostel, giving a little bit more money and saving your decency by sleeping somewhere clean.

!!NOTE!!: We - me and my friend - stayed at the hostel is december. So it was a lot calmer and a lot less people, but also no sweaty stinky rooms or bathrooms. This may not apply to your stay. That aside. I love it!! The people I met there; have been in my heart ever since our trip, reception was great, security a bit strange but fine. Everything was very clean (bathrooms were okayish), no bedbugs, cosy, silent at night, not to hot and MOST IMPORTANTLY, the location. AMAZING! I WILL BE BACK!!

We pulled the sheet back and inspected the corners of the bed and saw bedbugs and droppings. Went to the locker, saw the blankets that look like old Brillo pads. Heavily stained and musty. Definitely not as advertised! Beware!

My friend stayed on the first floor second day we realised his body was full of bed bug’s bites. one of the two nights he was staying at his bedroom a rat came into the 6 dormitory bed and they went to ask for help to the man in reception and he said it was just a rat and nothing he could do about it. He said the rat went trough the window because they left the window open (in summer time). So he nearly cry of happiness when we did the check out of that stinky place he called it.

Ok and well located. I was bracing myself for a terrible time given the other reviews, but it was actually fine. Maybe they have taken the bad feedback on cleanliness and bed bugs to heart. I found it clean and well organised, as most places do had it some quirks but I had no problems. And the only bed bugs I had to deal with were mosquitoes, close your windows. The kitchen could be better equipped, some shelving in the bathroom and shower would be convenient. Watch out for flooding as the courtyard at the front, like many other places in Venice, floods a bit at night. Overall I had a a good stay and given the price and the limited options in Venice, I would recommend it.

Confirmado Hostelworld
Terrible. I arrived and the vibe of the staff at the desk was very weird. Then once I'd put my stuff away there was a message on the hostel world groupchat from someone who had stayed there saying that their whole party had experienced terrible bedbug bites in multiple rooms and the only thing done to manage it was change the sheets (you need to fumigate). I left, booked somewhere else, the owner of which said he had heard of this issue.

We found bed bugs in multiple beds in this hostel. It was also unbearably hot and we had a hard time sleeping there. No refund and staff was not very unhelpful. Would not recommend.

This place is full of bedbugs. The first room I was in 3/6 people were bit. I moved rooms, showered, isolated affected clothes, and got bit up more in the next room. I had to request to move rooms too because staff didn’t seem too concerned about it. It’s also so hot that you can’t sleep at all. Someone warned me by describing it as hell lol. They weren’t wrong. Used a wet towel laid on me and wet socks to be able to sleep, just a tip if you do end up staying here. Location is great though.

This is the word hostel I’ve ever stayed . I guess you get what you pay for. No wonder is cheap accommodation. One ceiling fan for the whole room. Rooms are hot and humid full of mosquitoes . The worst part was my bed had bed bugs . I reserved my room for three nights and after one night I checked out . Staff doesn’t really care about how I mentioned the bed bugs .

Although I saw the cleaning staff come in every day and clean all the rooms and change the bed sheets, I got bed bugs while staying here.

Beds 101.2B and 101.3B in the 20 bed room have bed bugs as we have been bitten since arrival and they look different to our previous mosquito bites. The kitchen is not well equipped for basic cooking and is missing basic items like cutlery. The staff were not very helpful or particularly friendly which is a let down. Pro’s to the place was it’s location being so central and our room even overlooked the canal which was a nice surprise as not every room has this.

Hostel was clean in a 6 mixed dorm and only 4 of us actually in it. Would recommend as location is amazing. Place was clean and no bed bugs for us (room 102B)

After I already booked the place I saw reviews about bed bugs, but these are just mosquitos. There are a lot of them. Staff is really nice. Location is perfect. The walls are not soundproof tho. And the doors make a lot of noise when people come in the room late at night. Still had a very nice experience. And the beds are good. (As a tip for the hostel, I would make a little shelf in the bathroom so you have place to put your stuff, and maybe a little hook for your jacket in the room). :))

This was the worst experience of my life. Venice is very hot at the moment, and the hostel didn't have fans or any way to ventilate the room. There were lots of bedbugs, and I couldn't sleep because they bit me all night. The room was too expensive for what was offered. The service was terrible, and the most outrageous thing is they charge you €5 if you want to leave your stuff after checkout, which is ridiculous! I've never seen this at any other hostel I've stayed in. This place is awful, and I strongly advise people never to come here.

This has been the worse hostel I have ever stayed. Bedbugs everywhere. It’s not air conditional, no fan. My night here was terrible. All night lot of mosquitos around. I really don’t recommend this place. Plus if you want to lock your bags after your check out they asked you 5€ which it’s ridiculous. Never come back here.

Not amazing tbh, often travel to hostels don’t mind them but here’s my honest review. Negatives: Bed bugs, I stayed in the women’s dorm on bed E (near the door). Bed looked clean but woke up with bites on my arms and ankles. Loud keys, you get given this insanely big key holder that whacks around when you’re trying to open the dorm door and Hard to lock the door with it. additionally the lockers are super loud to unlock and in the shared area. €3 Euro add on, I arrived early and he told me it was a €3 euro early check in. I didn’t mind too much but I later met some girls from the hostel and they were charged €3 euro for not ‘online checking in’ same with other hostel goers for other reasons when arriving. None of us receives an email from the hostel or direction on how to do this. Positive: Goodish location; Difficult to find via maps. I recommend getting locations for Paul & shark and then taking the ally that’s next to it. Additionally you can walk there, no need for gondola even tho google says that. Towel, hand soap and shampoo provided. Note you need to take your towel down with you on check out. - never had to do that before. Odd one. Comfortable bed provided with thin sheet and thick blanket.(blanket was covered in hair though. One L plug socket and a lamp on a small shelf. Overall smelt clean but I entered as they were mopping Meh’s: Ish, 24/7 reception; you have to give your keys to the reception when leaving but this includes your locker key. You then tell them your room and bed assignment and they hand you your key in return. Kitchen is bottom floor next to reception, eating area is back at the rooms on the second floor.

Positive: - Kitchen that you can use anytime - Reception is open 24/7 Negative: - Bed bugs. I never saw any but me and other people had some bites - Leak in the shower, floor was always wet when somebody used it - luggage storage after check out costs 5 Euros Staff was ok but doesn't seem very enthusiastic. It simply does it's job as a hostel but nothing more. I was surprised to only find a light bedsheet as a blanket, if you come in spring/autumn i recommend to bring a warm pijama

Confirmado Hostelworld
Overall for the price, it was very much worth it. No bedbugs, fresh mattresses, and metal lockers that fit your suitcase. Our bathroom had a sewage smell, but I think we fixed it. My duvet had blood stains, but it was hot so I never asked for a new one, the sheet sufficed. The kitchen is not very equipped. Some of us were heavily bitten by mosquitoes, I wasn’t at all (also I think this would be a problem wherever you stay in Venice). I would however very much recommend you to bring earplugs.

The room was smelling badly and had bedbugs which spoiled my stay and my holiday ( my face was covered with bites). Also, there wasn’t a key to lock the toilet…. When I asked the staff for if they had a spare key the said “no because a guest had lost it” which I believe to be a banal excuse…. How a guest can lose a key if your not even allowed to take the dorm key out with you?…. The only positive thing was the location
-
Confirmado Hostelworld
Staff was nice, lockers were secure and location was great. I woke up with bites all over my arms and legs from what looked like bed bugs. I also didn't like how you have to leave your room/locker key at the front desk any time you leave.

Posible Hostelworld

Confirmado Hostelworld
Despite all the negative reviews, we decided to stay here due to the unbeatable price and location. To our surprise it was perfect. We stayed one night but I would have been ok with staying longer. I believe they really have read the reviews and have done the changes. The bathrooms were clean, no bed bugs, fans in the room, mosquito nets in front of the window (not 100% effective but better than nothing). The 20 bed dormitory feels more like a 4-6 bed dormitory with the room being sectioned.

Two words: BED BUGS. If you stay here you will have to burn everything you own or the critters will follow you forever

Bed bugs. Staff very unfriendly and unhelpful. Would not give a refund when shown bedbugs. They will try to charge you extra for random things, for example not having checked in online in advance, they tried to charge me an extra 3 euros. Kitchen does not have running water. Avoid at all costs.

Señales a revisar
