Loving Strangers Hostel

Fantastisk välkomnande mysigt hostel. Stefan som värd är extraordinär. Välkomnar alla med ett stort hjärta för att sprida gemenskap bland besökarna. Frukost ingår och det finns coworking rum, relaxrum, trädgård med litet gym och hängmattor allt rent och snyggt. Gemensamma middagar ordnas av värdparet. Detta är ett ställe där man lär känna varandra. Många reste på utflykter tillsammans. Rekommenderar det varmt, Kvinnlig 50+ ensamresenär.

I had a great experience at Loving strangers hostel. The owners are friendly and available for every request. The dormitory is good with comfortable beds and lockers. The breakfast made by Stephan is delicious and diverse. If you are looking for a place to stay close to Pico Madalena port and you are interested in making friends with other travelers , this is the right place.

Great. Very friendly and welcoming staff...I felt a bit uneasy with the locker set up which didn't feel secure.. and the sidi doesn't actually work on the dorms which is OK just good to know beforehand. Great breakfasts!

We had an amazing time staying at loving strangers! Stefan and Lina gave us a really warm welcome which lasted throughout our stay. We had the opportunity to take part at the "family dinner" which exceeded our expectations! We would highly recommend staying at loving strangers. with lots of love, Milena & Dominique

The hostel is very well-located, super organized and comfortable. The true highlights are the owners, Pedro and Stefan, who welcomed me incredibly, changing my whole experience in Pico and making me feel at home. Stories, love, magic, friends. this is what Loving Strangers Hostel is about.

Pedro and Stefan and such lovely and welcoming hosts! We had three family dinners at night during my 4 day stay and the food was outstanding! The beds are cozy and with the curtains it’s definitely your private space. Everything gets cleaned every day and I loved having the 5 cats around. Would definitely come back here

Pico is a special island and the Loving Strangers Hostel made my stay even more special. A little slice of paradise in paradise. Stefan was super helpful. Good for chilling out and meeting good people. Only a 10-15 minute walk to the harbour, so very easy to fit in activities. Will definitely book here again if I return to Pico

Greeted warmly, Stefan was a passionate and friendly host, decent location and happy cats, very comfortable bed too. Wish I'd stayed longer- was a zombie after the flight and it's very social. Highly recommended for travellers alone or in groups who enjoy hostel communities, or just need a need a decent nights sleep.

Come and share your travel stories at the most friendly and welcoming hostel I've stayed at! We enjoyed our stay immensely even if it was a bit rainy and cloudy during the winter low season. You can expect very comfortable beds in the dorm with privacy curtains, reading lamp and a fan. Clean bathrooms and kitchen where you can prepare your food bought the supermarket 20 minute walk away (on the way there is a small store for fresh fish). I wholeheartedly enjoyed my stay here and will remember it forever. Met some amazing people and had a good time. The breakfast was amazing (PANCAKES) and if there is family dinner: ATTEND!! 🫶🏻 The whole hostel area is amazing: a massive garden, nice kitchen, cool working space and the comfy beds (with curtains). Was everything I needed and more… Will forever be loving strangers now 💛:)

Very nice and social hostel, with Stefan being a terrific warm and welcoming host. The communal diner was very tasty, provided exceptional value for money and above all a very nice way to connect with fellow travelers.

My dad and me spent our last night in pico at this beautiful place. Stephan was so welcoming, the place is very relaxed with a Beautiful big Garden and we felt comfortable immediately. The biggest plus for me were the cutest cats (I Fell head over heels for bukowski). We would come back anytime. Loving strangers Hostel is one of the warmest places ever!

I really enjoyed my time at this hostel. I was able to meet a lot of nice and interesting people. The beds and rooms are nice and clean. The food was really tasty too. There were a lot of friendly cats. Stefan and Pedro were really welcoming and hospitable. I came to the island to finish 3 months of backpacking in Europe and a hike up Mount Pico. They really encouraged me. I definitely recommend going for the experience and atmosphere if you are staying on Pico.

I had a really great stay in Madalena at the Loving Strangers Hostel and really enjoyed my days there. You are welcomed with a lot of love and I felt very well looked after. Um abraço para vós Stefan e Sophie!

As already said by others, there is nothing comparable to The Loving Strangers Hostel, in the way the place is organized (dormitory, kitchen, music room, fitness room still in development, gallery of paintings as a working area, terrasse, garden) and the services offered (breakfast, dinner-party, concert, lifts to the airport, luggage storage) and even the presence of 3 adorable but insisting cats ! Amazing experience, such a nice and warm welcome from Stefan & Sophie (much needed with the cold weather this year). The room is beautifully furnished, the garden is lovely, the cats adorable, breakfast is amazing, and family dinner is the best ! Thanks a lot !!

Caring, friendly owners. High-end mattresses and appliances. Nice breakfast and a great optional dinner about every other night. Almost an old style B&B where you are served instead of making your own pancakes or coffee, etc. We stayed two nights in the private room (a big room with large windows) and returned for one night in a dorm and look forward to a longer stay in the future.

When we booked the Loving Strangers Hostel, we did not know what exactly to expect. Back then it was not on Booking and we stumbled across it only by accident. But it was for sure a good decision. If you‘re looking for an accommodation in Pico, where you can meet open-minded people and enjoy good talks, that‘s the place. We were a group of 6 staying in the loving strangers hostel for one night and had a great experience. One of us was sleeping in a tent because there was no place left in the rooms but Stefan took the time to prepare the tent in the garden with a materas and it was very comfortable. The rooms are really nice and you can have some intimacy and space. The bathroom and kitchens are very clean. There are a lot of friendly cats 😄 and very nice people.
