Caruma Surf Hostel & Suites

Klimaanlage lief laut und kalt die ganze Nacht, obwohl die Nachttemperatur nur 16 war.Unstimmigkeit bei der Bezahlung. 30 Euro im 10 Bettzimmer zu hoch. Vermutlich Bettwanzen, hatte mehrere Pusteln am nächsten Morgen.

1. Upon arrival it took some time before someone helped me/I was able to check-in: the person who was working there was busy doing other things. 2. There was a lot of clutter laying around (everywhere) in the shared living space 3. The bathrooms downstaris (only 2 with 1 sink out of order). 4. There was a bedbug situation, but the it was dealt with accordingly (room was sprayed and sheets changed immediately) I did decide to check-out earlier and book something else.

Do not go here! The place is not like the images let you think it is. The owner is a liar, fraudster and a thief who stole 100€ from me after I wrote a bad review. Edit after comment from owner: I am on the Camino and stayed for one night, I didn’t surf. He now charged my card 100€! I can only assume it’s due to this review. Hoping Booking will solve this!! Room smelled of sewage. Might have something to do with the sink in the next door toilet that is still broken? Reviews from a month earlier indicate that anyway. I woke up in the middle of the night scratching my feet and legs to death because something had bitten me. I can only assume it was bed bugs because the bites were exceptionally big and still itch a week later. A week after my stay I received a message that the property failed to charge me because my credit card was invalid which is not true - they had charged me successfully already. I find that very sketchy.

Didnt feel good with the way the owner handled his surfing lessons as a woman I dont recommend it. Had a bed bug in my bag afterwards…

Had a great time! Staff were very helpful. Good atmosphere. Interesting building and aesthetic. Pretty chilled. Guests all seemed nice and good level of reserved. Unfortunately have to share a bad bed bug experience. I think the dormitory was infested and I think the staff knew as they tirelessly cleaned the room daily and we could not access the room in the day. Staff didn’t mention bed bugs but I had a bunch. Spent both nights in the dorm fairly sleepless and itchy. Post trip me and my friend have about 200 bites between us. Found a bed bug in my cap that I kept in my bed on the morning I left and it was gigantic and was so full of blood it popped with a tiny swot. Mine and the bed bugs blood left a huge spot on my new beige cap. The hostel tried to shut down half of the dorm by segregating it with lockers, unfortunately this will not stop bed bugs. My recommendation for the hostel is to replace all mattresses and bed sheets (my sheets were covered in evidence of swarms of bed bugs - blood and pop). Get professional help to fumigate and take the hit during low season before it gets busy again.

Bed bugs! I was severely bitten by bed bugs the one night I stayed at the Caruma. The staff were uncaring and rude. The space where bed bunks were located and the bathroom were both below standard in cleanliness.

See above- and I did not like paying to be eaten alive.

Bettwanzen, Besitzer wirkte nich sehr interessiert am Wohle der Besucher. Einrichtung aber sehr schön, Bad und Dusche waren auch meistens sauber

!! ACHTUNG: Bettwanzen im 12er Dorm !! erstes Bett linksoben Wurde gemeldet jedoch nichts dagegen unternommen, viele Rezessionen (vor Monaten!) gleiche Erfahrungen geteilt. Besitzer extrem unsympathisch/unfreundlich/nicht hilfsbereit. empfindet nicht, dass es seine schuld ist, tut nichts dagegen. Bietet Küche mit Kühlschrank, 2 Badezimmer inkl. WC + 2 seperate Toilleten, die täglich um Mittagszeit geputzt werden. Über den Tag läuft laute Musik im Hostel (alles sehr ringhörig)

Sehr gute Lage, perfekt zum Surfen. Ich habe mich dort wohlgefühlt und hatte keine Probleme. Habe aber einen anderen Gast getroffen, der Bettwanzen hatte und für eine Nacht aus dem ersten Zimmer mit den Bettwanzen in mein Zimmer gezogen ist. Der Hostelbesitzer hat die Schuld von sich gewiesen und kein Entgegenkommen gezeigt. Für mich ein absolutes No Go weil das Problem mit den Bettwanzen laut Rezensionen offensichtlich schon seit langem besteht und nicht behoben wird. Sowas muss man behandeln!

When we got there, we booked to stay in a 4 bed dorm room. We got put into a 10 bed dorm room, and he said there was only 1 bed in each of the 4 bed rooms. Poor management. Also, bed bugs!! We all got bites, and when we arrived, the bed sheets looked like they hadn't been removed and cleaned. We told the guy at the desk, and he said there's nothing wrong. It's only us. However, when we spoke to the others in the hostel, they said they have bites all over their bodies as well. Not recommend for others to stay here until this problem has been fixed. It's not worth the price to stay here. Hope they get pest control in and clean everything so others are safe and have an enjoyingable time traveling and not get bug bites when sleeping.

I had a nice stay but came out with lots of bed bug bites, which killed everything else for me.

Cozy space, unfortunately with a case of bed bugs. When I alarmed the owner he claimed it wasn’t bed bugs but took some cleaning measures anyway. However leaving the mattress in the sun for a few hours and changing the sheets will hardly solve the problem.

Place was nice, staff were helpful, I had an issue with bed bugs I came away with many bites but aside from that it was a lovely stay.
