Sequoia Lodge Backpackers

Chose this backpackers as it was the cheapest and had to stay for just one night. However even the cheapest hostels should have hand soap in the bathrooms available. Stayed in 6 bed mixed dorm and woke up a couple of times during the night because my ankles and hands were incredibly itchy. Knew straight away that the place has bed bugs. Would be great if something would be done about it, but judging by the overall cleanliness of the premises, I doubt that will happen. Now I'm left with to deal with itchy bites all over my body and needing to treat all of my belongings to kill the nasty bugs (because one decided to hitchhike in my bag). Thanks, Sequoia Lodge.

I had a private room and bathroom. There were 20 big black flies in the room. The bed sheets were smelly and I don't think they have been washed. There was no bin in the bathroom, there was only a bin without a liner under the sink in the bedroom. There was no hand soap provided. Carpet was dirty. Top sheet had stains and holes. Overall impression was that the place is dirty, full of junk and not hygienic. I was scared of bed bugs.

The manager was friendly and accommodating. However the sheets were stained and not in good condition. I had sores on my arms after sleeping in the bed which I can only assume were bed bugs. Not a pleasant stay unfortunately.
