It was bedbugs they knew it and didn’t warn anybody. And the doors don’t close and sounds very much from the outside

Stayed here for over a week with the surf package Pros: nice staff and met lovely people, liked the surf classes Cons: dirty rooms, broken toilet seats, broken shower head, dirty pool, and BEDBUGS I stayed in dorm n2 and the whole room got infected - like we found bedbugs on 4/8 beds… We all ended up leaving after seeing them. AND the worst thing is that I came back later for my final surf session and I saw that staff was bringing new guests into the dorm. Like 5h after we all left due to bedbugs - that’s not nearly enough time to get rid and fumigate the room but I doubt they did it. While I had a nice experience due to the people I would definitely go somewhere else :( dorm n1 stinks and has a lot of mold and dorm 4 has bedbugs aswell! Got to give props to the marketing team cause they are really making this place look nice but sadly it’s way to overpriced and overall dirty/unhygienic/bedbug infested

In Zimmer 2 waren in 4 von 8 Betten Bettwanzen und den Pool möchte man nicht benutzen. Mitarbeiter waren aber sehr lieb

BED BUGS June 7th 2026 thank you to the staff who were very nice and offered refund this issue needs to be cleared up before anyone checks in. over 5 of us have just checked out due to a bug found in dorm, dead bugs seen, and the blankets are stained with red dots (sign of bed bugs). its not a clean place. under the beds is very dirty like it has never been sweeped (i wish i listened to the previous reviews 😓). dirty stinky showers.

Ik vond dit hostel niet lijken zoals het er op de foto’s uitzag. Het is wat verouderd en de badkamers waren best vies. Het leek alsof hier al een lange tijd niet was schoongemaakt want het zat onder de kalkaanslag. Er kwam daardoor bijna geen water uit de douche. Het meest vervelende was dat we bedwantsen in onze bedden hebben gevonden en dat hier niks aan werd gedaan. We kregen geld terug voor 1 nacht, maar daar bleef het bij. Tevens zijn we beide ziek geworden hier en dat zal waarschijnlijk aan de airco hebben gelegen. De locatie van het hostel is wel erg goed, dus het is jammer dat het hostel niet schoon en comfortabel was. Al met al dus best een prijzig hostel voor wat je ervoor terug krijgt.

Les - : Le lieu a du potentiel mais... il y a des punaises de lit et ça c’est rédhibitoire ! Les chambres sont nettoyée mais dans les espacement des lits c’est vraiment sale. La piscine, cool pour se rafraîchir mais pas hyper clean non plus. Les + : le premier petit déj offert si tu laisses un avis Le personnel, vraiment sympa L'emplacement (moyennant 20minutes de marche tu es dans le centre, idéal avec un scooter) La variétés des activités proposées Le côté social est un + comme un - , super pour faire des rencontres, mais chambre bruyante selon le respect des colocs +/- : musique toute la journée Travaux en continu qui signifie que dans quelques temps le lieu sera un vrai + avec les nouveaux aménagements

There was bed bugs here. I am currently paying for my clothes and bags to be sanitised and cleaned after I found one on my bed. The exterminator has confirmed they are bed bugs after I showed him a photo. The response from the staff was “oh” and offered zero support, compensation or help. I believe this is very common for this hostel. The bathrooms are very dirty and obviously not maintained. I would avoid at all costs

Fun and social hostel in central Kuta. Dorms were comfy and clean - whilst I was there one dorm got bed bugs but they were quick to sort it out. Basic breakfast but always lots happening and stuff to get involved with. Would say more of a younger crowd.

we had the private room these are the issues we had with the hostel: - room was dirty, hair on the floor, mat smelt musty and there were even sharp metal objects on the floor - some people said they had bed bugs in the dorms - the pictures are clearly deceiving and the actual rooms and facilities don't look that good, building is run down - showerhead is not working properly - quite expensive for what you get, for a similar price you can get a real hotel room in Kuta - the surfing lessons were not safe and not as prescribed, gerupuk is not beginner friendly and too crowded, my girlfriend nearly drowned because of this and nobody helped her except for me, someone else also got hurt and nobody from the instructors or other people did anything or cared, the waves are too big and there are like 7 people on each wave, there were also like 5 people per instructor even though they said it would be 2 people only, the instructors did not give any feedback and just pushed you in the waves, for the price it was expensive and not worth it - the breakfast was horrible, for this price you can get a really good breakfast in town, all in all it feels like this hostel is just a money making machine and they don't care about the guests by not caring for the facilities and using sketchy surf schools

My stay was good at the Lotide hostel. However we did need to move rooms on the last night for ‘maintenance work’. Turns out there were bed bugs in one of the bunks in our dorm. They did give us a whole new dorm to sleep in however they could’ve told us upfront about it. Other than that the staff were super lovely and helpful! Location was great as well just right off the main street

I stayed here for two night but moved to a different hostel for múltiple reasons. The most important being the cleaniness and maintenance of the rooms. The mirror in the rooms was completely covered by damp mold and i think they barely clean the rooms except for the beds. There are also some noticiable cracks in the bars of the top bunks holding the beds. There have been people complaining about bed bugs and i just heard 10 minutes ago someone else got bed bugs in this hostel. Don’t go to this hostel, there are better hostels for half the price in the city center.

Our room was dirty with musty smells and even sharp needle-like objects on the floor; other guests reported bed bugs. Facilities are run down, shower broken, and pictures deceiving. Surf lessons were unsafe, overcrowded, with 5 students per instructor instead of 2, and my girlfriend nearly drowned with no help except for me. Breakfast was poor and the place feels like a money-making machine with no care for guests. I strongly advise against staying here.

L’odeur dans les sanitaires, les poussières à côté du lit et le petit déjeuner de faible qualité m’ont un peu déçu. L’ambiance est cependant détendu et le personnel très accueillant. A noter : Je suis partie à cause de la présence de punaises de lit ! Notre dortoir a été vidé pour pouvoir être nettoyé rapidement !

LoTide & Rasta Surf School: Effortless Surfing, Real Community Surfing doesn’t get easier than this. LoTide utilizes the oldest surf school in Gerupuk. Instructors consistently help guests stand up on every attempt—far surpassing the typical 3 to 5 successful rides most experience elsewhere. While the Rasta Surf Camp in Gerupuk receives mixed reviews, it actually provides a far better experience than some five-star-rated places that take beginners to Segar, where waves often wash them out quickly. At Rasta, teaching is almost exclusively in the water. They physically push you into the wave, making it easier to catch and ride. However, having a few basic skills somewhere else before your first session with them helps you get the most out of the experience. If you wanna get better faster, skateboarding and paddle-board before getting here. Once here, rotate surfing and paddle-board surfing for balance. Also, there are skateboarding courses in Kuta. The number one seen post-injury in Kuta is surfboards to heads, not scooter accidents. Keep your hands down til your feet are centered and use your hands to drive (like a car) the board around people. If you don’t stand up centered, you’ll crash without your hands down. LoTide’s design encourages connection, with plenty of small, shaded lounge areas perfect for conversations, quiet moments, or group hangs. The vibe is casual, open, and welcoming—largely thanks to the incredibly kind and heartfelt staff. What Needs Attention: • Several bed frames are bent, creaky, and unstable underneath. • Beds need sun exposure between guests to reduce chance of bedbugs. • Staff must clean thoroughly around and under beds between stays. • The housekeeper’s young daughter flips off guests. • The housekeeper has been seen lying on lounge chairs and guest beds (as other reviews mention), which impacts the perceived cleanliness. • A persistent, funky smell lingers in the dorm area—tolerable, but noticeable. • The shower room feels more like a dungeon than a retreat space. Consider redoing to look and feel more natural, outdoor, and less like a dirty dungeon. LoTide has such a warm and amazing community that guests often hesitate to mention the housekeeping issues—but addressing them would elevate the experience even more. Dry clothes only on the second floor—nowhere else seems to work.

The dorm we stayed in had bedbugs the staff were aware of the bed bugs and checked 6 of us in and didn’t try and fix the problem they seemed to be ignoring the issue we got a refund eventually but after a night of bed bugs

For me one of the badder ones. The facilities were vey dirty especially the kitchen. The kitchen always looks like you don’t want to do prepare something to eat there. They hab a chill area with a TV and Netflix, that’s quite nice, but some travellers played movies the whole day with a very loud noise. The dorm is very old and further more I heard about bed bugs in one of the dorms, luckily they closed this dorm. Even the bathroom was pretty dirty and not very comfy.

BEDBUGS!!!! Found bedbugs in my bed, staff did not really care and definitely didn’t seem like they were gonna try and get rid of them as they checked someone else into the room as I was leaving. denied a full refund for the days I had remaining. cool location and social but this place is sooooo dirty.

I booked a week in advance, took the slow boat and was going to be a late checkin (11pm). In the morning I texted them on WhatsApp to let them know I was going to be a late check in f they asked for my name and they said no problem, all was sorted. When I showed up at 11 the hostel was shut down, nobody was there. The security guard told me the hostel was full and to check my email. Turns out at 9:30PM that night they sent me an email saying the hostel was full and I needed to cancel my reservation… After 10 minuets one of the staff came down after his shift to help me out and took me around Kuta trying to help me find another hostel which was very nice of him, after we had no luck he brought me back to the hostel and as a last ditch effort he did me a favour and hooked me up with a dorm that was closed so I didn’t have to sleep outside. Unfortunately I woke up 3 hours later being totally eaten by bedbugs. My mattress was crawling with them, my back was covered in bits and the sheets stained with speckles of my blood. I then showered and slept the rest of the night outside on the patio… That morning the staff went about their regular day and no effort was made to make up for my terrible experience. I changed hostels immediately and never looked back. Would not recommend lotide surf camp. Also the the staff don’t really have any insight on surfing, if you want any tips on where to surf or what’s working you have to get lessons or go elsewhere.
