Costa Rica Guesthouse

Never again! Bedbugs, dirt, wet laundry, and extremely rude staff. Our stay at Guesthouse Costa Rica was truly awful. I’ve travelled a lot, but this was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. – There were BEDBUGS in the bed. – The room was dirty, with stained walls and a bathroom that was not clean at all. The shower barely worked. – We paid 7,000 CRC for laundry. Dropped it off at 9:20 AM, picked it up at 10:10 PM – and it was still wet. No explanation, no apology. – The staff was incredibly rude and disrespectful. They gave us false information, refused to communicate in any of the three languages I speak, and laughed at me behind my back. – When I asked for the name of the manager, they refused and told me to “sneak out” of the reception. – At 10 PM, two men (one named Lukas) were unfriendly and disrespectful toward me. I was shocked and uncomfortable. – After so much mistreatment, I finally had to raise my voice – I simply couldn’t accept being talked to like that anymore. I was a normal guest, expecting basic respect and hygiene. What I got was the opposite. Avoid this place. It’s not like the pictures. Not clean. Not safe. And not professional.

S***!!!! We tried to extend an extra night because I was sick - front desk said it was “too much work”, made us wait 3 hours to extend, and then charged us double. When I brought this to their attention, they lied, refused to tell me their name or the managers name, yelled at us, and threatened us with violence. There were also tiny spiders on the floor that got into the luggage, roaches in the dorm and bed, and I got eaten by bed bugs. Just do yourself a favour and do NOT stay here.

Nice place, the dorms are across the street but everything was nice except my boyfriend who had some bugs in the bed. We don't know what it was and he had nothing after showering, just a bad sensation all night.

BED BUGS***This place has BED BUGS!! After checking in and paying, my friend & I went to our shared dorm and found bedbugs in our bunks. We took photos of what we found & told reception. The front desk worker was extremely rude & condescending. I sent an email to ask for a refund as we immediately left & did not use the facility but did not get a response. Stay here if you are okay with terrible customer service and bringing bed bugs home with you. No wonder this place is so cheap. Disgusted.

Costa Rica Guesthouse was very affordable for the spacious room we got, plus we had a balcony which was a lovely surprise. The WiFi was fast and supported a 2 hour virtual class session I had the evening we were there without issues. There is plenty of community space in the hotel, including an outdoor space, which was great for hanging out or having breakfast. The people who work there are super kind and lent us an umbrella on a rainy day, as well as held our bags for us for 12 hours after we checked out. Our only minor complaints were the shower was wet when we arrived and had hair in it, and there were little bugs (not bedbugs) all over both end tables.

There are BED BUGS. Stayed 3 nights and itching started on second day. I thought it was mosquito bite but it's still itchy even after my stay. Property is generally clean but it seems very old and needs some renovation. Front staffs didn't really understand English.. well they're open 24 hours anyways. And the airport shuttle is too expensive. $27 for one ride but if u take uber, it's not even $20.
