Vibe Hostel

Very unfortunate situation. We arrived late due to our bus breaking near Ubatuba and went to Vibe hostel because the reviews seemed good. A young man received us and was very friendly. After checking in for the common rooms we were curious to know if the private rooms were available. He told us the private room was not available due to bed bugs so we decided to stick with the common rooms. Having arrived late we took a shower at the hostel and went out to finally eat something. When we came back an hour later we decided to check our bunk beds just in case… and they were full of bed bugs. So we decided not to sleep there (obviously). The young man at the reception told us the owner had already passed by to collect the money so they couldn’t reimburse us but that we should come by another day. We returned two days later and were greeted by an elderly women. Upon explaining our situation to her and trying to find an arrangement (we took a shower and left our stuff for an hour so we obviously didn’t want our full payment back) she instantly snapped at us saying that we used the showers and came late so we shouldn’t expect any reimbursement at all (in a very confrontational and accusing manner). Just to tell us that it wasn’t her problem and that we should call the owner to deal with him. Needless to say we didn’t get a single cent back and thus paid the price for a whole night just for taking a shower. My biggest disappointment comes from the way we have been treated even though we tried to talk it out in a calm and friendly manner. Would not recommend the place.
