Econunay

BED BUGS! We did get an immediate refund which was appreciated but no one seemed very surprised when we mentioned the bed bugs!!

Econunay was a cute a little hostel. The central outdoor area and the rooftop was cosy and super nice with good vibes. You can socialise at breakfast. Though the Breakfast is just to fill your stomach here. Private twin room was large and beds comfortable. Location is about a 10 Min walk to the plaza. Staff were nice and friendly! However a couple of things, the shared bathroom was a bit run down but there was hot water that is powered by solar panels, it would also benefit from having some hooks. During our 2 night stay we did encounter a bed bug on the 2nd night. As in we found it crawling on the pillow and have pictures. We've encountered bed bugs before in previous travels a few years ago in Europe so this wasn't our first rodeo. We checked the mattresses and they were all clean so it was probably hiding in the walls or crevices. This was the first encounter we've had in the americas since travelling for 6 months. Econunay took our feedback seriously and were immediately doing cleans the next morning when we checked out and told them. The issue is not really about the bed bug, that can happen anywhere but more so how the hostel responds and they seemed like they will be doing everything they can to nip this early as it didn't seem like it was infested. But as a guest I also would like know so I can take precautions. Overall a good hostel, if the bathrooms got fixed up, this would elevate the hostel completely!
