SPLITTING BOOKINGS, BROKEN SHOWERS & BED BUGS My friend and I booked Maverick months ahead so we could stay together, but on arrival we were split due to a hostel error. We were promised nearby rooms with a connecting door, which wasn’t true. The bathrooms on our floor were also out of order, leaving two floors to share limited facilities. Later, I developed itchy bites I strongly suspect were bed bug bites, but my concerns were dismissed at reception. Overall, a very disappointing stay.

Horrible female receptionist, I travel 2000 miles to visit Budapest and before I even speak she says Check-in after 3pm. It was 2pm, -10 outside, didn't even want to check-in, no Hello/Welcome, nothing. Then she comes to the rooms in the evening all smiles begging for €5 to join some bar game. Cramped dorm, sunken zero quality mattress and one single socket per pod, no sugar/tea but empty pots saying "Sugar". Impossible to sit on the ground floor, the music is too loud 24/7 although there's nobody there. Totally impersonal, it's like sleeping in a cage

Facilities, no soap or shower gel in the private room as you pay much more than a dorm which you share with other guests. Draft inside the room even all windows are closed. Draft is coming from the air duct in the bathroom. Mattress smells! It contains small “bed bugs” as I noticed my skin was red when I woke up. I went to hospital to check as they confirmed it is from bed bugs. Think good if you want to choose cheap accommodation. Never again!

The hostel is very big (200 people, 5 floors) and because of the curtains in the bedrooms very private and anonymous. If you are a very shy and introverted solo traveller, this hostel might not be so social for you. I would really recommend the free bike tour by Adam and free wine gathering, I met a lot of cool people there and we went partying together almost every night. Anyways you can always get out of your comfort zone and start talking to people in the lobby, everyone was very nice and we all had a fun time :)

Very modern hostel. The only problem was that there were bedbugs in my bed :(

BEDBUGS! I stayed here during the week of January 16, 2023. Unfortunately, I didn't know there were bedbugs until I got to my next destination and saw all the bites. Also, there were 2 pipes leaking in the girls dorm bathroom (the solution after multiple days was just to place buckets there), 1 of the 3 shower stalls wouldn't drain at all, and both kitchen were constantly a mess (and only 1 stove top worked). The front desk staff generally can't be bothered with anything. It's no wonder there are bedbugs, and given how people have food and dishes everywhere, there will likely be roaches soon enough.

I got bed bugs and staff were not happy at the start. Then changed my room and no further issues. This was unfortunate because this is a good hostel.

i got flea/bed bug bites all over my feet:( please wash your bed sheets better🤕 very unpleasant experience
