Bungalows Hostel - formerly Hostel Cat

EVERYTHING. bad location. run down building/area homeless people everywhere. i’m surprised this place doesn’t double as a homeless shelter… im SHOCKED it could be listed as a hostel. the first red flag should’ve been while i was checking in, the lady told me “absolutely no refunds if you decide to leave early”. this means it’s bad enough that people will walk right out after seeing what they’re supposed to stay in (as i did!) i got my bedding (that you have to put on the bed yourself, a regular practice with hostels) in this brown pillowcase. the receptionist walked me through the common areas to get to my room, and boy were the characters surrounding me CREEPY. i’m a 20 year old female solo traveller… and it was all dirty older men looking at me like i was fresh meat… i was prepared to lock myself in my room for the remainder of my stay. when i got to my room the bed was covered in a plastic sheet which *i guess* is sanitary/anti bed bug, but when i opened the brown bag i was shocked… the sheets provided were RIPPPED and STAINED BLACK. as if a car drive over the duvet. and the towel had a small bug in it… could’ve been lice. no toilet paper in the washroom either. i left within 20 minutes of arriving and didn’t look back. didn’t even speak to the receptionist to try and argue for a refund as she’s just told me while checking in i wouldn’t get one. i think it’s absolutely insane that i paid 100USD for one night here. yes it was friday of super bowl weekend… but for a place that looks like a homeless shelter???? a place that can barley be listed as a hostel to the public??????? i will never trust booking.com for reviews ever again. when booking here it said it was a 7.3/10 stars…. however when i looked on google it said 1 star…. AS IT SHOULD BE! negative 10 stars for this place .

My friend woke up with bed bug bites 2 nights in a row. We brought it up at the desk and we were told that wasn’t a possibility and denied us a refund. We refused to stay the 3rd night due to this.

Behavior of front desk was poor, neither cleaned not hygeinic, many bed bugs and insects. Space between the bunk beds is very small, even you can sit, only lay down. Not recommended at all.
