Woke up with bed bug bites after our first night and left for a different hostel. We tried to pay for the night we stayed and receive a refund for the remainder. The hostel escalated the issue to its supervisor and then the hostel refused to refund the money we paid for the room despite the fact we vacated the room and it was empty. We had to pay for two accommodations for our trip because of this hostel.

En esta ocasión mi experiencia fue completamente distinta y preocupante. Durante mi estancia de una noche, solicité almohadas adicionales. El guardia nocturno se dirigió a un cuarto de almacenamiento y me proporcionó únicamente una almohada, arrojándola de manera poco profesional y respondiendo en tono burlesco “de nada”. En ese momento no le di mayor importancia. Sin embargo, al regresar a mi ciudad comencé a presentar múltiples lesiones cutáneas que no correspondían a piquetes comunes de mosquito. Las lesiones aparecieron principalmente en zonas expuestas durante el descanso: cuello, hombros, brazos y parte superior de la espalda. Debido a la forma, distribución en línea y la reacción inflamatoria, acudí a valoración médica. El médico confirmó que las lesiones eran compatibles con picaduras de chinches. Considerando que fue una estancia de una sola noche, que las lesiones se localizaron en áreas que estuvieron en contacto directo con la almohada y que ese fue el único elemento adicional proporcionado desde un cuarto de almacenamiento, la relación con el alojamiento es altamente probable. Actualmente tuve que desinfectar mi equipaje por precaución, ya que existe el riesgo de trasladar este tipo de infestación a casa, lo cual genera preocupación, incomodidad y un problema sanitario importante. Me parece fundamental que revisen de manera exhaustiva la higiene de ropa de cama y áreas de almacenamiento, así como los protocolos de control de plagas. Este tipo de situaciones no solo afectan la experiencia del huésped, sino que representan un riesgo sanitario serio.

They didn’t seem to understand the problem, even though they claimed that cleanliness is a top priority. On top of that, the one night I did stay was not a good nights sleep because it’s incredibly loud — Triver is next door to some night clubs. They provide white noise machines and on full blast it barely covered the noise.
