Gandrung City Hostel

Gandrung City Hostel seems like a basic base for sleep, showers, and resetting after time on the road. One stay found the beds comfortable, the room clean on arrival, and the location good for unwinding. Staff were helpful with places to eat and places to go, and another late arrival got help setting up an Ijen trip. There is also a kitchen, and one room had a city view. A friendly host and a nice terrace view were both part of the better side of the place, along with help with train tickets. The setup can work if you want a simple stopover and do not need much more than the essentials. The rough side is much rougher. One account had a badly kept room with stains, a strong smell, dust, dirt, cockroaches, and a bathroom in poor shape, plus no TV even though it was expected. Wi-Fi setup also failed in one case, English communication was hard, and the place is away from the center. It may fit best if you want a cheap, very low-frills night and can handle uneven conditions.
