BED BUGS - BE AWARE Currently bed-bug infestation in the hostel. My legs and another girls in my rooms were attached and are disgusting. I've had to put my trip on hold as I recover from the bites and also spend money on medical advice, medication, and treatment. AVOID!!

AWARE - BEG BUGS Please be aware there are currently bed bugs in the 8-person dorm. DO NOT book this room. Cleanliness of the rooms and bathrooms also less than desirable. Otherwise, great social environment and roof top.

Honestly as a fellow kiwi it disappoints me to say that this is simply not it. The staff are great but the building is old, dirty, and the facilities are piss poor including the bedding. This hostel has no affiliation to New Zealanders and it shows. There is a SIGNIFICANTLY better hostel next door. I have been staying at this SIGNIFICANTLY better hostel for a few weeks now and suggest you do the same. A friend also got bed bug bites at Kiwi.

Great hostel but sadly they have been dealing with a couple of issues lately, namely an isolated norovirus epidemic in the hostel as well as bed bugs. Their response to these issues was to increase hygiene, which they do very well and I support. However it appears to be insufficient to get rid of the problem. The most annoying part was that the owner got extremely defensive when the issue was addressed, instead of being apologetic or understanding. A shame, because otherwise this is a 9+ star rating hostel.

wonderful place with amazing atmosphere and facilities. hoooowever, staff is not being transparent to their guests - there has been a virus going around for over a month and there are bed bugs in some rooms, but when asked about these matters you will hear different stories from different staff. they are not planning to close down to disinfect the place, instead they plan to keep the hostel open. quite disappointing

Le bar sur le toit est le move Kiwi : hamacs, boissons, vues au lever et au coucher du soleil, et par temps clair un grand décor himalayen. C'est le principal moteur social ici, avec petit-déjeuner et hangs du soir qui rendent facile de trouver des partenaires de trek, de nouveaux amis ou juste un atterrissage doux après la logistique de Pokhara. L'auberge penche sociale mais pas chaos total. Il y a plusieurs espaces assis communs, une salle de yoga, des activités occasionnelles comme un cours de cuisine momo, et un personnel qui peut aider avec treks, bus, sorties à la journée, location de matériel et conseils locaux. Des noms comme Bipsy, Maya, Pawan, Prem, Arjun et Madan ressortent comme partie de la personnalité du lieu, surtout autour du bar, de la réception et de l'aide trek. Les chambres sont généralement propres et confortables, avec douches chaudes, casiers ou rangement, accès par carte dans certains dortoirs, et options dortoirs comme privées. Le petit-déjeuner gratuit fait vraiment partie du rythme, même s'il est simple. L'emplacement est pratique pour Lakeside, le lac, les boutiques, marchés, restaurants, et semble quand même assez en retrait pour une base plus calme à Pokhara.
Signaux à vérifier
- Certains dortoirs peuvent devenir chauds, étouffants ou serrés, surtout les grandes chambres, et ventilateurs ou chargeurs peuvent ne pas toujours fonctionner de manière fiable.
- Le petit-déjeuner peut être lent, assez simple et limité pour les options vegan.
- La lessive est un point faible : elle peut être chère, et il y a des problèmes de vêtements mélangés, malodorants, humides ou abîmés.
- Il y a de sérieux avertissements d'hygiène dans l'historique, dont des punaises de lit signalées dans le dortoir de 8 personnes en mai 2025 et des problèmes de virus ou gastro en 2023 et mars 2025.
- Un petit nombre d'incidents impliquent un comportement impoli du propriétaire, intimidation, problèmes d'intimité dans une chambre privée et propos racistes allégués.
