Therefore on a hot afternoon I was out in Puerto Viejo with my luggage looking for somewhere to stay, which was not pleasant. I feel they could have sent a message explaining the situation, so I would to book somewhere else prior to my arrival

Disappointing. Rude staff (not all). Mouldy room. Bed bug outbreak was handled so badly. Prior to my stay some guests had bites and told staff but it was ignored and new guests were moved in. On my second night I found multiple bites and bed begs on my bed, so I left next day but more guests moved into my dorm. I heard that they eventually closed the hostel for a few days to properly exterminate, but that should have happened from the start. Now their customer service won’t reply for a refund 🤪

As of right now there is a bed bugs outbreak and they aren’t doing anything about it. We left 4 days ago covered in bites from head to toe and we told them what we think it is. They told us they would check, and when we went back in they just changed the sheets and made the beds ready for the next guests. We are in the group chat still and the other girls are saying it’s now in every room but one. We have messaged them multiple times with no replies. Such a huge health and safety hazard.

The Hostel was very nice overall, the beds were clean and some of the volunteers were very sweet and helpful. However the toilets were not always the cleanest, often feces were left floating in the water and the showers were lacking storage space. The bathrooms in general felt very cheaply made. The night shift receptionist was very rude, she would come and tell you to shut up in a very rude tone if you were to even make a peep after 10pm. BEDBUG outbreak which they tried to keep under wraps.

Woke up with bites every morning, couldn’t see any bugs in the bed so didn’t complain but pretty sure it was bed bugs. Staff were also not the most friendly and not willing to help when not on shift. A bit overhyped for the price.
